The brush has stopped rotating so vacume won't pick up anything.

Without knowing the brand and model number, I can't assist too much. However, most all of them have a belt that turns the rotating brushes or "beater bar".

It looks like a large black rubber band, and does wear out at times causing this condition. It would be located under a removable panel on the bottom of the unit.

Also check to make sure there is no dirt or strings preventing the brushes from turning.

Make brushes turn - band is intact but not turning the brushes

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

Are you able to confirm whether your DC07 includes the brush control feature or not? The brush control would be a round dial on the cleaner head which allows you to turn off the brush bar when cleaning hard floors or delicate rugs.
make-brushes-turn-band-intact-but-not-lwqyc41qlbnwv0kthpkl2aqr-3-0.jpg

If your DC07 does include brush control, make sure that when the vacuum cleaner is turned on and reclined, the brush control is set to 'Carpets'. The brush bar will never rotate when the brush control is set to 'Hard floors', or when the machine is standing in the upright position.

If you're confident your machine is already set correctly but the brush bar is still not rotating, or if your DC07 is a version which doesn't include the brush control feature, we'd appreciate the opportunity to provide further assistance.

I'd encourage you to give the Dyson Customer Helpline a call when you have your DC07 easily to hand so we can take you though some simple troubleshooting checks. You can reach us by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

What should I check to trouble shoot a Eureka 6865 smart vac making very loud whirring noise? Filter and bag are clean. Hose is unblocked.

Hi, it's Jim from Crucial Vacuum!

I'd say at this point if you've checked your bag, filter and hoses it may be time to check your brush roll and belt. These two fast moving parts, when loose, damaged or just in need of replacement may occasionally give off an odd noise.

Turn the power wand over to expose the base plate that covers the brush roller. The power wand can get dirty and collect debris in the brush roller over time. The grinding noise may be something stuck in the brush roller, causing it to hit the edges when the vacuum is operating. Removing obstructions and cleaning dirt and debris collected over time should allow the vacuum to operate quieter. Unscrew the base plate cover with a Phillips head screwdriver. Lift out the brush roller and belt. Cut away any obstructions, such as string, hair or rubber bands, from the brush roller. Wipe the brush roller and belt with a damp rag to remove any dirt and allow them to air-dry. Wipe down the brush roller housing and inside the base plate with the damp rag. Any noticeable difference now once it's dried and turned on?

Bissel 3760-4 brush motor doesn't turn on

Hi Tim. I understand the brush is turning & belt is fine. You may want to remove and reseat the canister. If this doesn't work, you'll want to have one of our Authorized Service Centers inspect your vacuum.

Brush will not turn

Assume that the belt is broken to the power brush /head. Did you happen to smell burning rubber or see small pieces of black rubber? Look in your manual for replacing power head/brushes belt! With the unit off , try turning the brushes by hand and clean them off of debris, etc., as well while there. See if you feel some tension or hear the motor moving inside, indication that the belt is still attrached and if it doesn't seem to have any resistance and you see small pieces of rubber and /or, the band/belt may have just broke from normal usage. WalMart sells most types or your local vacuum repair facility.. check the Yellow pages and let your fingers do the walking.. Good luck

Have a Hoover Steamvac F7410-900, the brushes don't spin anymore. Can hear the motor running. There is no visible debris and the lint screen is clean. Please HELP! I miss my steam cleaner. Thanx!

Check to see if you can turn the brushes by hand, if not your bearings need service in your turbine assembly.Check aslo for proper suction at the instake standpipe under the lower tank. If it is the turbine, take it to a repair shop.

Spin brush not working anymore.

Is the shaft still on the brush block, if it broke off, then replace the block. if it is ok, then the turbine(#13) is most likely the problem. It is what drives the brushs. You may be able to take the turbine apart and clean it, if that doesn't work the replace it.
