That is usually caused by the I/C ( an integrated circuit chip inside the tv)
Sometimes bad capacitors could cause this, but usually a faulty chip or a chip with loose/cold solder joints will cause this as well

If this has a warrant, which it should, they are good for 1-2 years, take that thing back!

RCA has a support website where you can ask questions such as who in your area you need to contact to get warranty work. The following website is where you need to go:

http://voxrightnow.custhelp.com/app/answers/list/p/158/kw/L26HD35D/r_id/103795/search/1

There is a Search bar where you should enter the model number of your TV. If nothing is found they will give you a blank form to fill out. Once you've completed the form you will see a Send button. Once you send it out you will get an email from them instructing on how to get your warranty work.

Do these lines appear in the same place all the time or do they keep changing position? Also do the lines increase/decrease in intensity after the set is on for a while? Please provide this info so that we can continue with the diagnosis.

You can get the manual here but I don't think thats gonna help for it sounds like a panel or LCD controller issue
    http://tv.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/...
If problem persists after trying the troubleshooting tips in the manual let me know and we will look at the hardware angle.

Yes it should be. RCA warranty covers 12 months + 3 months extra. If the model is not available they will give you the credit to get a different tv. If by chance you have that option go for westinghouse. Low cost, good quality and 2 yrs manufacturer's warranty.

Hi.

Test the TV using different input cables and devices (eg.DVD and receiver or console).
If the lines are always in same place, then it is an LCD display defect. The display panel must be replaced.

If the lines are moving, or the lines do not appear always in same place, then it is a main controller board fault.

Terminal input/output and main controller board in general must be tested at component level before replacement.

The best thing to do is contacting RCA at the number listed on the owners manual. If warranty is expired, if the problem is display panel, insist that the problem may be a factory defect. The display panel is n expensive part, and it is generally not worth repairing unless part is covered by manufacturer.

Regards.

    Hi.

You fix this replacing either a $80 control board or a $150/$200 LCD display. The problem is likely the LCD display itself, as said.

THis is the truth, the rest is rubbish.

If the TV is less than one year old, call RCA and validate your warranty.

    Here again the contacts:

    CONTACT RCA

Please contact them, ask them, then leave adequate feedback if possible. I was not just guessing and I received a bad feedback for sharing a professional opinion.

    Thanks.

Sounds like it is probably the backlight. Turn the television on and tune to a channel, then try holding a flashlight RIGHT up to the screen and see if you can see a bit of the picture.
