1994 Sony MHC-C33 Mini Hifi bookshelf stereo system
My 5 Disk CD player portion of the system ( linear skating 5 tray mechanism) has suddenly stopped working. When the system is turned on instead of hearing the "norma;" sounds od the CD deck cycling through, it starts , and then you hear an abrupt stop. The disk door does open manually, but inside nothing is obviously wrong from what the naked eye can see. None of the buttons to play or eject any CD system operate. The radio, and cassette portions of the system work fine. Any ideas?
I have the same problem. Took it apart not knowing what to look for, but found a drive belt (a skinny/thin black rubber band to be more precise) off the nylon pulley gears. Put it back on and reassembled. It still does not work. Radio works and I think the tape deck does also. When I turn on to cd function, all I get is a scrolling "initializing" message. I also get the same message when the system is plugged in but not turned on. Help, any body (including you, Sony).I have the same problem. Remove the belt and measure it in MM. The search for a belt at that size with Google. You don't have to be too precise about the size. For example if it is 48mm than a 50mm belt should do the trick. Don't bother with the maker's name either. Then can be universal. As long as it looks right.

saya menggunakan sistem audio sony mhc rv888d mini hifi. 10 tahun digunakan, tapi saya merusaknya sehingga tombolnya error semua, 10 tahun lagi saya menggunakannya keadaan rusak.
Try changing the belts that control the cd mechanism. There is one belt on the bottom that drives the cd assembly and two smaller ones in the left and right of unit. One controls the cd eject function the other controls the cd selection option. This particular linear skate cd system needs to have its belts changed otherwise the motors won’t work the mechanism at all.
If you have an output function at the back of your mini HIFI then surely you can. What you need is a Dual RCA [from the mini HIFI] to 3.5 mm Stereo Jack [to the PC].
The cable is easily available in the market...go to this site n you'll get the idea http://www.vpi.us/cable-audio.html
Something is out of timing. When powered up, the unit trys to get to a known state and will continue until it reaches that state. If the timing of the gears has been changed, this may not occur.
I'll try to see if I can create a set of instructions to re-time this.
