Question about Epson Aculaser C1100 Printer

Cannot connect The printer is connected on an USB port on Windows XP and it cannot print. It reports a "Connection Problem" and windows reports a device malfunction. USB device not recognized. I have the correct drivers and the cables are connected just fine. It was printing till 3 days ago, now it wont. The only cable i got is the USB one and the port is set to USB. please help if u can

    Hi, Mine is connected to a Mac via USB and i have installed the printer driver again but when i print to the printer i just get a connection error, tried from two different macs and same thing. Was working yesterday, unplugged it, plugged it back in today and hey presto... nothing happens??!!

    Help please!!!!!!

Have your tried removing the driver and reinstalling? sounds like a corruption to me.
been struck by lightening / power surge?
anything funky in the computer's behaviour three days ago, but not related to priner?

My epson stylus tx 121 doesn't print..... it says ur printer s not ready... but everything s ryt at my end.... i need some solutions

First how are you connecting to the printer? Is it a direct USB connectionor are you using a USB hub or print server (sometimes part of a router)? If a USB hub is in use, is it a USB powered hub or a self-powered hub (AC adapter)? (Make sure that the printer has power and is turned on. Also make sure that you have printed and scanned a calibration )

If you are not using a direct connection, try a direct USB connection. Use a different USB cable and try different ports (some ports have lower power throughput than others). Make sure that you have the correct driver for your OS. (The full software is useful for other issues.) See for the drivers.

Try uninstalling the current printer driver and then disconnect your data cable (USB). For Windows, press Start and open the Devices and Hardware control panel (Printers and Faxes in XP) from the right hand column. Right click on the printer and select Uninstall (or left click and choose Uninstall from the Menu bar). Reboot the computer and install the Epson printer driver before reconnecting the USB cable. (Otherwise you can get the OS driver that may not work as well.) Remove your data cable from both the computer and the printer and turn off both devices. Unplug the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet. Wait a few minutes before reconnecting the power. (This will reset most printers if there is an error in the printer itself.)

If you are using a print server and the direct connection worked, check the installation information for using the print server. Not all printers are compatible with certain print server drivers and you can have a conflict.

If a direct connection to any of your computer's USB ports does not work, check if other USB devices work. If not, try updating or uninstalling your USB controller (in the Device Manager for Windows - Start > Control Panel > System and Security > Device Manager, scroll down to the Univeral Serial Bus controllers). Then reboot your machine and see if the correct driver installs. Alternatively, check your computer manufacturer and see if there is an update for your USB driver.)

If the problems persist, you may have a bad USB port on the printer. Please add a comment with the type of connection between the computer and the printer.

Unable to install Epson TM-U220B[U220 with UB-U02III usb interface] on Windows 7 AND XP!


Are you using a third party USB adapter or a USB interface? On the self test page that you printed does it say USB connection or something that will say about USB? or does it say parallel or serial connection? try to check the dip switches setting if its configured properly. visit site for more info.

Hi Im trying to print but I have to reinstall the driver as it keeps telling me that the usb device that I have connected has malfunction and that I must reinstall the drivers. I am using the canon MP250...

I think your printer driver is not compatible with windows vista, so try reformat your laptop with windows xp and i think it will solve your problem

First make sure that the USB cable is OK and use another if you have one. Then make sure that the laptops have working USB ports from Device Manager. If they are OK then try powering up the Canon again without the USB cable connected to see if any errors are reported and then plug it in to your laptop to see if it is recognised. Check the status of the Canon Print Driver settings. If this all fails then you may have defective USB ports on the Canon and will need to get them repaired.

Step one: Check the All-in-One, the USB cable, and the connection You must use a USB cable that is less than five meters (16 feet five inches) in length to connect All-in-One products. Do not use patch cables to increase the length of an existing cable; however, you can use a powered USB hub if you need more length. USB-to-parallel adapters are not supported by HP All-in-One products. Disconnect any other USB printers—USB scanners, USB cameras, and any other USB connected peripherals other than keyboards and/or mice—while you test the USB connection to the All-in-One. If the connection to the All-in-One succeeds with only the All-in-One connected to the computer, start reconnecting USB devices one at a time. If the connection fails after reconnecting a device, you may need to purchase and install a USB hub or uninstall the software for that device. Checking the All-in-One and the USB cable Perform the following steps to verify that the All-in-One is working correctly and to verify that the USB cable connection is not the problem:
  1. Check the front panel of the All-in-One to verify that it is turned On and does not have an error. Correct any problems found.
  2. Print a self-test page from the front panel of the All-in-One. If the page does not print, verify that the front panel is installed, all doors on the All-in-One are closed, and check the paper supply for problems. If the problem cannot be determined, contact HP for assistance. Follow these steps to print a self-test page:
    • Models that have a Setup or Menu button: Press the Setup or Menu button until Reports appears in the display, and then press Enter . Use the arrow buttons to scroll through the options until Self-Test Report is selected, and then press Enter .
    • Models that do not have a Setup or Menu button: Press and hold the Cancel button, and then press the Color Start Copy button.
  3. Disconnect the USB cable and examine it. Replace the USB cable if it is damaged or shows any signs of having been pinched, crushed, or run over by chair rollers.
  4. With the computer started and the All-in-One turned on, plug the USB cable into a USB port on the back of the computer or into a powered hub and then reconnect the USB cable to the All-in-One. USB ports in a keyboard and on the front of some computers may not provide enough power to maintain communication with an All-in-One device.
  5. If another USB cable is available, replace the USB cable to verify that the cable is not the problem.
Verify that the computer supports USB and check the Device Manager Some computers do not come from the factory with the USB port enabled. If the All-in-One was connected before the software was installed, Windows device detection (Plug and Play) will not occur correctly. Complete the following steps to check whether the USB port is enabled and check for unknown entries in the Device Manager:
  1. Right-click My Computer (click Start first in Windows XP) and then click Properties .
  2. Select the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager .
  3. In the Device Manager, scroll to the bottom of the list of installed devices and look for the Universal Serial Bus (USB) entry. This might be listed under System devices .
    • If you see the Universal Serial Bus (USB) entry, then Windows has recognized and configured the USB port. Proceed to Step 4.
    • If you do not see the Universal Serial Bus (USB) entry or there is a yellow exclamation or question mark next to the USB controller, Windows has not recognized the USB port, the port is disabled in the computer BIOS setup, or there is a problem with the USB port setup in Windows. Contact the manufacturer of the computer for assistance correcting these problems.
  4. Look through the listed devices for any devices that have an exclamation or question mark beside them. Click the plus next to any of these devices to view additional information about the device. If the device listed is an entry for the HP All-in-One, do one of the following:
  5. Devices that have a question mark next to them: Remove the entry by highlighting the device and then clicking Action and then Uninstall . After the device has been removed, disconnect and then reconnect the USB cable to the All-in-One.
    • If the problem persists, disconnect the USB cable from the All-in-One and then uninstall the software following the directions in the HP document Uninstalling the HP All-in-One Software (bpu01843) (in English). Be sure to use any software cleanup utilities listed in that document for your product model and then reinstall the software.
