It may be the device you are trying to connect. shut down everything, unplug , remove batteries, plug in the ISP model, allow the self test, plug in the wireless device, allow it to self test, plug in, reboot the device, laptop, desktop, ipad, phone, whatever. You say you can connect using a Ethernet Cable? Just no connection wirelessly?
You can manually configure the time machine to accept wireless signal from the router or extender. If you setup WEP on the router or extender, make sure you setup WEP on the time machine as well. For instructions in setting up wireless settings of Time Capsule click on this link -->>http://www.apple.com/timecapsule/wireless.html Hope this works for you.
It is possible .. just get youself an ethernet cable .. connect one end to your router and the other end to the back of the pc ( ethernet port ) .. and u will be connected via the wire.. You can disable the wireless connection from the router for that you can either call your Internet service provider or the netgear support team.

Set up and plug in the Netgear router and
wait a few seconds for it to boot up. Since the router is essentially a
mini-computer, it won't work instantly when it's turned on. While it's
booting, the power light should flash. When it's finished booting, the
power light should stay solid.
Connect a computer to the router, either with a wireless or a
wired connection. Reboot the computer to ensure it gets a new IP
address from the router via Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP).
Open the web interface by entering "http://192.168.1.1/"
into the address bar of your web browser. If a login
screen is presented, use "admin" as the username and either
"1234" or "password" as the password.
Connect to the Internet, if necessary. Plug your cable modem
or DSL modem into the router's WAN port in the back and run the Internet
Connection Setup Wizard from the web interface.
Follow the directions and provide authentication information.
Connect more clients. At this point, clients should be able
to connect and access the Internet.
I am having exactly the same problem. It occurred on Sunday 17th. I have phoned Optus who seem unable to work out what has happened. It will work wirelessly but not recognise it when set up via ethernet cable.
need more information - do you have cable? DSL? Are you able to connect when you put the Ethernet cable directly into your computer and bypass the wireless router? The wireless signal is only indicating that your router is "broadcasting," but does not mean you have a usable Internet connection.
Just plug the cable modem ethernet into the input to your router and you will be fine. Just remember, if you decide you want to make any changes to your router settings through your browser, make sure you hook up an ethernet line from your laptop to the router before making any changes. The reason for this is if you make a change in security settings on your router while wireless, the router will reboot and if your laptop did have the settings changed in it, you can be locked out. Not that you can't get back in, but it is a pain to have to do.
