Problem same as befor shows 0% space onlibrary but help menu shows 84% available. Have deleted several recordings - no good.
the first solution was no good as we cannot find "customise TU TV anytime" to deactivate all chanels. We do not use this facility anyway!

  • cathyandpete Apr 27, 2010

Sorry, but this did not work, yes it is a Thomson DT 16300, have you another solution please.

  • cathyandpete Apr 27, 2010

    No we canot record programmes,

We do not understand about "backing up" recordings, How would we do that? Sorry, but we are complete technological idiots.

  • cathyandpete Apr 27, 2010

We do not think that our equipment will allow us to burn DVD's, so we will have to opt for loosing our recordings, if you would please let us know how to reset the DT 16300 please.

  • cathyandpete Apr 27, 2010

Sorry, no "reset" under SET UP - we have the following:-

    1. Scan for Freeviev channels

    2. Change your box settings

    3. Choose your providers

    4. Recording preferences

    5. Messages

    6. Help

    7. Parental control

    8. Languages.

Non of these above contain RESET.

  • cathyandpete Apr 28, 2010

You may be at the max. 20% of the drive is reserved for what are call swap files the computer has to have the space to move and position data but it seems here there is no space left.
Go to "my computer" right click the c: drive and then go to properties this will show you how much space is available and you should be able to see the disk clean up link also if not you will have to format the drive and reload Windows.

Ok, well, there is little that can be done unfortunately. When something like that happens, with any unit like this, all one can do is A: Try to reformat the Drive, and start again. B: Replace the drive and start again. C: Remove ALL things on the drive, and try again. I have searched for a manual, a service manual, but cannot find any at all. You could try to "Reset" the unit, however I cannot find out how to do this, Often with these DVR, the HD, become corrupted, and they need to be defragged and the like, just like in a PC, and just like a PC, the drives can and do fail. You could take the drive out, and use a USB "Dongle" check it out on your PC, then also you could repair it on the PC, if repairable, and return to the DVR. IF the drive isn't faulty, then most likely, it will be the Unit itself, that has developed a fault. It indeed may pay you to take it to a repair center, and ask them to have a look at it, ask them for a "Quote" before proceeding with any repairs.

Turn off the unit, unplug from the power supply, wait for a couple of minutes and re-plug it. That should reset it. Let me know if problem persists so that we can try the restore defaults option. Also this is the Thompson DT 16200 DTR isn't it?

Are you able to record despite of the discrepancies? Either way try a factory reset. Note that it may wipe out your recordings. Once you have backed up all your stuff let me know and I will give you the reset procedure.

I meant to say burn them to a DVD or something. Sorry for using the technical terminologies. I will keep it as simple as possible from next time.

Its been a while since I have worked on this box and I don't have a user manual. So please tell me what options you see under menu. It was in menu-> Setup I think but not sure. Get me this info so that I can recall,

  • eagle338

Cool I remember. It is under setup. Depending on the firmware version you will see an option that says "Reset" or "Restore defaults" select it and the unit will be reset. I remember that its not a factory reset so your recordings wont be lost. It will only reset the settings and stuff.

    Sai.

Check if you are using the Anytime function. In that case the unit keeps recordin automatically from channels, using up to 80% of the space for Anytime function. You find it on Main Menu -> Customise TUTV Anytime -> deactivate all the channels

Simply formatting the hard drive does not remove all residual traces of the previous installation. When you get to the step for formatting, go to the advanced button and delete the partition that contained windows 8. Then create a new partition in the space, format, and install windows 7.

There may be plenty of space in the HDD but you can only set a certain number of timers. Delete a less important timer setting to make room.

I want to downgrade my desktop acer aspire x1800 vista to xp pro everytime i run set-up it always showing me an error could not proceed,.

Most like ly the hard drive has a Vista recovery partition. That partition has got to be deleted. You'll need to open a command prompt and follow the guide very carefully or irreperable damage could occur.

Here’s the trick to delete and remove the EISA recovery or diagnostic partition in Vista. Before proceeding with the deletion action, make sure that at least a set of Recovery Disc Media has been created. Else, you won’t be able to restore your computer to working and factory default condition when any problem on PC requires reinstallation.
  1. Open a command prompt as administrator.
  2. Run Diskpart application by typing Diskpart in the command prompt.
  3. In the “Diskpart” prompt, enter rescan command and press Enter key to re-scan all partitions, volumes and drives available.
  4. Then type in list disk and press Enter key to show all hard disk drive available.
  5. Select the disk that contains the partition you want to remove. Normally, with just 1 hard disk, it will be disk 0. So the command will be:
select disk 0
Finish by Enter key.
  1. Type list partition and press Enter key to show all available and created partition in the disk selected.
  2. Select the partition that wanted to be deleted by using the following command, followed by Enter key:
select partition x
where x is the number of the EISA based recovery partition to be removed and unlocked its space. Be careful with the number of this partition, as wrong number may get data wipes off.
  1. Finally, type in delete partition override and press Enter key.
Once the partition has been deleted, exit from Diskpart, and now users can use the much familiar and much easier Disk Management tool in Windows (diskmgmt.msc) to manipulate the freed unallocated partition. Users can create a new volume (partition) with this space, or simply merge it to existing partition by extending the size of the existing partition.

Deleting updates, freeing space on hard drive

if you are running windows vista, this might help alot, if running xp, it might not, go disk clean up for drive c. to do this, open up my computer, and right click on drive c, and open up properties. click on disk clean up, and a window should show up. if you are running windows vista, its going to ask if from current user, or all users, click all users. after the calculating window, a window that says disk clean up for drive c will show up. click on the tab at the top of that window that says more options, and on the bottom box, which should say system restore and shadow copies, click the clean up button. the longer it takes, the more space its freeing up. Goodluck

I show the Ex. HD, But I can't show data

Are you sure the disk is formatted?
If not, then partition and format it. If it is, the MBR (master boot record) could be corrupt.
Have a look at external hard disk troubleshooting.

When deleting a film previously recorded on my Sony DVD recorder the amount of available space shows 650k as opposed to 800k despite the fact that I have no other recordings held. Can you explain why this...

Jim, Although you have deleted the recording the DVD recorder still sees that space as have been being used. The space should be reusable however the area has been used before (therefore not considered unused space).  By deleting the recording you should have no problem going over the area when it is needed.  Happy Recording Rob

Memory card space

usually it will go back and show the time once you actually start recording. If that is not the case then you should format the storage folder on the device to ensure it was properly deleted.

Thanks,
