Morning Rich;
Your OM is not listed but there is is a link where you can request one, please do.
Stihl Product Instruction Manuals
http://www.stihlusa.com/information/info_product2.html

It is difficult without seeing exactly what you are inquiring about but I suspect it is part of a winterizing modification. I have never needed to modify any of my saws but it is moderate where I use them. A stop in your local Stihl dealer will answer both questions with certainty.

If you have more questions or need additional help please reply below and I will get back to you. HTH & Good Luck.

Thank You for using FixYa.

Hi, front right hand side of the motor under a rectangle plastic cover. One screw holds the top of the cover in place while the bottom locates with plastic lugs. Hope this helps, regards Phil.

It will not run unless it is choked

sounds like it is running lean, increase your fuel air ratio and up the idle speed, both these adjustments can be made by jet screws wich are located on the carbuertor. You will need to consult your manual for the location of these. Also clean or replace your air cleaner and use fresh fuel with the recommonded 2-stroke mix. If you have no luck with the adjustments, increase your fuel/oil mix up richer.

I have a 2008 Passat. I purchased an air filter which is located under the engine top cover. How do i remove this cover without breaking it.

I looked up your car on Autzone.com's site and my online resource but no data on how to take the air filter out was there.

Maybe, you'll have to purchase the Chilton or Haynes repair manual or go to repairpath.com or alldata.com to get the information you require on your computer.

Remove the air cleaner and watch the throttle arm on the carburetor while operating the throttle trigger--suspect that the trigger assembly has acquired sawdust and dirt sufficient to limit proper travel of the trigger mechanism. Careful notes as you dis-assemble the trigger will help get it back together properly. There is little except proper maintenance to prevent debris accumulation in the trigger mechanism. Note: air leakage behind the carburetor can also cause high idle speeds--make sure the carburetor is fastened securely and that there are no flaws in the gaskets and heat insulator located behind the carburetor. Hope this helps!
