IF THIS IS A SEALED BURNER GAS COOKTOP, AND YOU LIFTED THE TOP, YOU HAVE PROBABLY DAMAGED THE ALUMINUM GAS TUBING THAT GOES TO THE FRONT BURNERS. THEY WILL HAVE TO BE REPAIRED OR REPLACED BEFORE YOU NEED TO WORRY ABOUT REINSTALLING THE TOP.

TURN OFF POWER
pull knobs and dials off
open oven door look under console remove toex screws in lower console(control panel)
the front panel glass will drop out
you can know see a metal panel that surface switchs mount too
the screws that hold panel are around the edge the screws that hold cooktop down should be able to be seen
you do not have to remove the cooktop to replace switches
but once the front screws for cooktop are removed the top slides forward and lifts off there will be 1 ground wiire to disconect from cooktop if you do put it back

My spark module is probably out, but I don't know how to open up the range to look at it/replace it. How is this done?

Most newer ranges with sealed burner cooktops can be a little bit tricky to open. People have a tendency to try and lift the cooktop up like on the older ranges and end up damaging the range and causing a gas leak. The first thing to do is to unplug the range of course. Then start by removing the rear panel of the range. From there you can get a visual feel of what you are up against. With the back panel removed you should be able to see into the top part of the range. Most newer sealed burner cooktops require you to disconnect the screws holding the burner tubes to the bottom of the cooktop. If you do not remove these screws you will break the tubes when you lift the cooktop. Most of the time the screws are removable from the top at the burner heads. Once these screws are removed you should be able to lift the cooktop up. From there the ignition wiring and spark module should be available now for servicing.

Whirlpool electric Cooktop's one burner not heating

Hi,

Initially, it could either be:
  • open heating element (most likely);
  • open temperature limiter (least likely);
  • faulty/loose connection/wiring (a possibility).
Please confirm that it is a Whirlpool RCC3024 Electric Cooktop.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Re-ignition when cabinet below doors open/close

Seal all holes on the underside of cooktop. This is called the burner box. Seal all openings with aluminum tape. This should stop the back draft effect.

Thermador 6 Burner cook top

It sounds as though you have soem nice, well sealed cabinets and a good installation on your cooktop. When you open the drawer. it creates a momentary vacuum that sucks the oxygen away from the cooktop, as the bottom of these are not airtight. The only thing you can do is to open the drawer more slowly or have a vent of some sort installed in the back of the cabinet to let air in as you open the drawers, so it does not suck it from the top.There really isnt anythig wrong per say, it something that happens with most gas cooktops with drawers/ doors below them. Hope this is helpful.
