Question about Nikon Coolpix S550 10 Megapixel Digital Camera (Graphite Black) with 5x Optical Zoom + 4GB Memory Ca

1 Answer

Blurry images (after a lens error)

Unfortunately i dropped my nikon coolpix S550 camera. When i turned it back on, the lens went in and out several times making a buzzing noise i had never heard before, and then came up with a lens error screen. By tapping the lens a little bit, i managed to fix this problem and get an image on the screen. This image is extremely blurred, is it fixable?

There is a mechanical displacement in your camera. Definitely, it is not a software problem. Actually Digi Cams are very delicate, especially small ones.... So get it serviced from a authorised service station. They will fix the problem....
Pleas rate the answer iof you find it useful.

The following blog outlines some repair options for a lens error. They won't work for all cases, but they're worth a try if the camera's no longer under warranty:

Won't turn on lens stuck out coolpix s550

The lens has probably got something in the retraction mechanism that is stopping it retracting. This can be something as simple as sand or grit or as a result of a drop or knock. In most cases the camera will need to be stripped apart to remove the lens assy before it can be repaired. This is best left to a professional camera repair shop.

I have a coolpix s550. When I turn it on the lens keeps going in and out 4 times and then lens error comes up and the lens stays in

If you've recently dropped the camera you may have lens damage that's preventing the camera from operating properly. If it hasn't been dropped, your problem may be due to weak/worn out batteries or corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera which can prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the camera. Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of the batteries and place them back in the camera. This cleaning clears the problem about 90% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, your batteries may need to be replaced, or the camera may have a problem that requires professional repair.

If this response helped, please take a moment to post a rating for me. A "Very Helpful" would be greatly appreciated.

The camera shutter wont open

if the camera is turning on and the lens pops out, it is not fully expanding. this may be because the camera was dropped and now the lens guide is damaged.

My nikon coolpix s210 had a "lens error" after several months of use. The tapping of the camera against my hand did not work. Eventually i did use the method of putting my nail under the lens and pulling as I tried turning the camera on. I had to apply a good amount of force and was afraid i would break the camera, but after doing this several times, the lens did click back into place.
