Magnetron do get week over time even more so if you do a lot of short time food reheat, the fan normally is used to cool the magnetron wave guide and if it stops working the over temp safety will trip and stop the magnetron from working

SOURCE: loud buzzing noise with Whirpool microwave oven

The loud buzzing you hear is the sound of the magnatron tube. That is what emits the microwave radiation and buzzing should be normal. The mag tube may be nearing its end at witch time you will hear no buzzing and hence no heating of foods. Replacement can be costly depending on the model so most people just opt for a new one. Hope this helps

The magnetron or the inverter board are the likely cause if microwave is less than 7 years old.

Microwave oven does not heat up

This seems to be a common problem with microwaves, the problem is likely the magnetron "heats food" and the heart of the system. If the oven is five years or more I would suggest a new one.

Suggest you pull the plug out, remove outer cover and place a cup of water into the micro. Set power to minimum then switch on and take note if the fan works or not. If not, switch off immediately and have it replaced(magnatron will burn out if left to run without fan.)

MICROWAVE NOT HEATING

Most likely you have a magnetron problem. Easy to replace (DYI) but make sure the high voltage capacitor is fully discharged first against the case.

Whirpool microwave MH1150XMB-1 fan is on when heating

yes , that is how it works. fan cools the magnetron so it run the same time it is heating. you have to look at the fan why it is very noisy, it could have been touching some wires or the bushings may need lubrication. you have to bring it down again, remove the fan and bench test it . lubricate the bushings if necessary.

tnx 4 using fixya,
