Question about Philips Televison & Video
I get similar ones to this from time to time in my shop. Unfortunately, when this happens, there really is no economic repair, What happens is the tray assembly, goes faulty and over time gets worse and worse until, as you have experienced, it fails completely. I don't think there are very good unit. I DO NOT recommend you get this repaired, and recommend that you source some other, almost any other unit. To give you an idea, the entire replacement assembly, costs ME, $124.00.... Now thats without any labor, and anything else. I find frequently, that these type of units are simply NOT economically repairable. Also, even IF repaired successfully, you still have an inferior unit, that has been repaired. In my professional advice is to obtain a better quality unit, also ensure you get a Warranty on the new one.
