Hi,
There are many variables on this. First:

1 - unplug and open the pc by taking the side off the pc unit. Check for loose wires - and proceed CLICK HERE FOR HOW TO < RAM-
2- remove ALL the cards except what the monitor is plugged into -
the cards - are the things plugged into the mother board.
3- remove all but o ne stick of ram.
3 remove that one piece of ram and take a pencil eraser and go over the copper colored plug ends of the ram stick and put it back in. Only 1 for now.
4- blow out the entire unit with a can of air
5-plug the unit in - plug the key board and mouse in [ keep an eye on this board and check to be sure it isn't bad - if all else fails] and observe if the fans are blowing. If nothing is blowing - replace the power supply. If the fans are blowing at all - - be sure the fan over the processor is blowing - if not replace it - check also while here for loose wires ]- -
now if the fans are blowing - check the hard drive wires - to be sure they are hooked up. IF you have a floppy drive - remove it BEFORE you start the machine - only pull the plugs on it while the pc is OFF. Just leave it sit for now. You can hook it back up later if you want to.
If the pc works - - shut it down - and put one stick of ram or one of the cards back in it at a time - rebooting each time.
SLOWLY put the items back in. If you need to put a new operating system on it now is the time.
This should get you going.
If your not able to fix your pc- Please - purchase a new one as it is truly the very best way to go.

I am currently on my laptop because when I turn on my desktop, the monitor (ViewSonic VX2235wm) powers on with a message that says No Signal Digital and then turns off. Any suggestions?

hi; your monitor has no problem, its your cpu. Try to hook your monitor to your laptop, and change the display setting to your LCD monitor. If LCD has displaying no signal mean signal coming form the Video card of your CPU try to visualize if you hearing some beeps into from CPU, some motherboard has beep codes if there's an error or failure to your CPU, 1 beep means its good system test. if you don't hear any beeps, try to check first your Video Card marmeto12_21.jpg if you have Spare try to replace it, try to reset all the connectors even Memory card to its slot. reset means pull the connectors and place it back again, also check the power supply of cpu if still functioning good.but you can test it by multi volt meter. if nothing happens check your motherboard most common failure is bloating capacitor, and overheating chipset. thanks....................hope this helps...................

I have an hp pavillion a6500f that soon as it is turned on has a constant alarm and is not sending a signal to the monitor. Screen says no signal and then remains black.

If you mean a constant beeping, open the case and see if the CPU fan is running, check also that the heatsink is firmly attached to the board, this noise usually points to a n overheating CPU, if you get no activity on screen,it is because there is no signal being sent to the monitor. Do not operate the computer until you have checked the fan is working, you need to establish if there is power getting to the fan by testing with a multimeter on the motherboard cpu fan pins. If you are getting power, replace the fan, worthwhile removing and regreasing the CPU and making sure it is firmly in place.

If there still is no signal, replace CPU, but also try a different graphics card (faulty video will give 9 beeps).

After that, check the ram is firmly in place.

My monitor is not responding to anything. what can i do aside from rebooting?

do you see the light blinking in the monitor? I mean the POWER led light up? If so, then the monitor is ok and is working good. It is your CPU which has a problem and not sending digital signal for the monitor to display.
Try to turn off your computer. After 3 minutes turn it back on. then notice if you will hear a short beep from the CPU. That signals a successful video initialization. If you went through that process, then your computer will get back to life.
However, if you dont hear a short beep from the CPU, then definitely your CPU is frozen therefore there is nothing to display to the monitor.
You need to open the CPU case, pull out memory modules then plug them back in. Then try booting.
If not successful, try to open case and pull out the processor. Put it back in after 30 seconds. Try booting again.
Do ALL THESE while your PC is UNPLUGGED.
Good luck.

My monitor will not come on, the on/off light flashes occasionally and the monitor gives over a very brief light

make sure that your cpu is working. if the cpu is dead, there will be no display in the monitor. If the monitor light is flashing as you said, it could be the CPU not sending video signal to the monitor. also check if the cpu beeps when you start your computer. if not, check your cpu. try to re-seat your RAM modules. this will solve most of these types of problems

My Viewsonic monitor flashs but noscreen display. Is this the power supply

If the light (yellow or pink) is flashing, your monitor is well. It's your CPU that is not giving a video signal to your monitor. Try to reset and notice if your CPU beeps. If it doesn't beep, then there is something wrong with the CPU... or the CPU's speaker.

No signal on monitor

I think you need to connect the cpu cable with the monitor to start it.

if still your computer turns on without issue, but your computer screen is showing a No Signal message, it could be due to problems in the CMOS, RAM, VGA card, or the cable that connects your CPU to your monitor.

If the cable is a problem. You can get a new one at

check for loose connection of the video cable connection on the system unit (CPU). blinking may indicate that there is no signal transferred from the cpu to the monitor!

Before we begin we?ll need some more historical information: -Was this a functional computer that just stopped working or is this something you?re building? -If this was a working computer were any new programs, hardware, drivers or updates anything that changed recently? -Have there been any recent error messages?
