I can tell you what I do not recommend... any Seagate external drives. They have an over heating issue.

My pen drive is not showing file system ( fat 32 etc..), what can i do? and how can I format the my Kingston 64 GB and 40 GB drives

Sometimes when a flash memory stick or USB external hard drive fails because it was not removed from the USB port properly. If the device is removed by just pulling it out of the USB port, it can cause the flash device to fail, you must click on the Safely Remove Hardware icon on the Task Bar and select the device you wish to remove and only do so when instructed to do so.

When the flash memory USB hard drive device appears to malfunction it maybe possible to restore it by reformatting it. Insert the flash or USB hard drive into the USB port then Click on Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Computer Management - Disk Management.
Then right click on Disk 1 removable drive and click Format. After the flash drive has been formatted it will indicate that it is Healthy.

You need to format the flash or external drive. Format the drive as primary drive and in FAT32. (FAT32 will allow data to be exchanged between MACs and PCs) also between XP/Vista and earlier versions of Windows.
Insert the flash or external hard drive into the USB port then Click on Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Computer Management - Disk Management.
Then right click on Disk 1 removable drive and click Format. After the flash drive has been formatted it will indicate that it is Health.

How do I get the SW download for the USB-A Male to Mini USB-B Male Cable. Thank you

You don't need software for cables. You need drivers and software for devices, DVD/CD drives, ipods, mouse, external burners and hard drives etc. The cables are irrelevant and the computer doesn't recognize cables. I hope this helps and good luck.

My windows xp wont detect my m-audio..im trying to connect my mobilepre usb can someone please help me solve this?

First ensure you have any software installed the the M-Audio needs My Oxygen keyboard needed the software to work properly.

Also do not extend the USB cable and make sure you use the proper power supply my Oxygen would not work 100% until I got a power supply for it

I devised these simple steps that tend to remedy quite a few issues with most USB portable / external hard drives and OTHER devices (though not always)

A few things to check but assumes USB and Windows for other interfaces / operating systems (mac/ Linux) similar steps may be adapted to suit.

1. Ensure it is connected directly to the computer to a USB 2.0 port not a USB 1.0 port as this can have effects on performance and reliability

2. Use only the cables that came with it NOT one that fits that may have been lying around or is longer. Not all USB cables are equal even though they should be)

3. Do not connect through an external USB HUB unless that hub is USB 2.0 AND has its own power supply.

4. Use ONLY the power supply that came with it if it has an external power supply Don’t use any other unless you know it has both the same voltage and current rating e.g. 12V 500mA anything rated below that would not work properly.

5. Always use the same port for connecting your devices. Some devices do not like being switched about. If switched they may want to install software / drivers again. This can be especially true if you move a HUB to another port

If you checked and fixed anything there and still have issues then check your hardware from CONTROL PANEL / SYSTEM / HARDWARE.

Any exclamation marks by hardware need fixing before you investigate any further

USB flash drives can fail for no apparent reason.
Sandisk Cruzers are especially bad for this.

USB hard drives should be treated with extreme care.
This is a real hard drive ! and knocks and bumps can quite literally kill them.

It is possible to remove drives from the enclosures in most cases and connect directly inside a PC to fully check it.

Note that if you hear a drive clicking or pinging this could be the worst thing you would hear.
Known as "The Click Of Death"

If none of the above steps help look at updating the drivers from the manufacturers web site in the support section.

USB External HArd Disk

yes, there are ways you can do both. if you want to lock a folder there are several programs online that you can use to do so. for example a software called folder lock. http://www.newsoftwares.net/folderlock/
this program will create a folder that can be locked.

if you want to hide the entire partition the try some thing like storagecrypt (this software can do both locking and hiding) http://www.magic2003.net/

How to download music onto a lexar micro chip

hi, it should be in my computer, then sd card should be list of drives on the acer, if not you may need the updated drivers or it is broken, i know this because i have 2 newer acer notebooks, one the driver updates fixed. the second one,the chipset controlling the card reader, usb, touchpad, keyboard, are all dead.sent it to the factory and they want 450.00 flat rate, for repair for this problem. if the usb ports work on your pc, consider an external card reader,if the usb ports don't work, get an pcmcia cardbus usb. or xpess card whatever your acer is equipt with. here is a link for acer drivers. hope this helps you folkshttp://www.acerpanam.com/synapse/forms/portal20.cfm?website=AcerPanAm.com&siteid=7117&areaid=2&formid=3394#results

Non functioning

The usb adapter may be for a mouse. Allthough they look the same they are not. Their should be an image of a keyboard on the adapter.

Also Check again. A normal MSR206 takes 24v 1Amp. Your Usb cannot put out more then 6 Volts.
I'd question the writer.

Hope this helps some.

M-Audio USB

U need an external phantom power supply, they run about $19.99, or you can get a different interface which has phantom power onboard, the cheapest one would be the m-audio mobile pre usb but that would not work on vista 64 bit... best bet is to get external power....

Hello,

There are serial port to USB adapters, but can't you use a USB cable by itself? You can find the adapters at cyberguys.com or milestek.com
