The compressor is not starting...these tips will help you with that...
Try change the start components....potential relay and start capacitor...if that don't work it is the compressor going bad...

Asker's Testimonial " Thanks! You helped me to understand the relay and capacitor's purpose, and why a change in either may cause the compressor not to start. "

Fridge portion doesn't get cold

The defrost circuit is not working, there are usually 3 things that normally go bad, defrost timer, defrost heater, and thermal switch. Would have serviceman check it out as cooling fins on coils will cut you like a razor.

The defroster on my GE profile side-by-side is not working. Now what?

Locate the wiring diagram, it should be somewhere on the unit. Letting the unit completely defrost so the ice is removed from the back will help. The autodefrost circuit may be defective, the heating elelment could be burned out, there may be a faulty wire, a faulthy thermal sensor, each would need to be checked for continuity.

Also check to make sure the fan inside cabinet works correctly.

All fridge is not cooling , only down to 55 degrees

how dirty is the condenser, it should be cleaned once a year for optimum performance, high temp = hi amps = compressor out on thermal even though fan is running (trying to cool compressor), is the comp hot to the touch if it is it is out on thermal, is there plenty of room for ventilation? u could have a failed starting component which can be caused by above stated condition, defrost timer can also be suspect as it is the switch between defrost and cooling operations, a dirty condenser/ lack of proper ventilation will cause the contacts to burn or stick "all fridge" is made by danbury i am not familiar with them but i am pretty sure u can google them for a manual

Zanussi zx99 fridge fault - freeze working fine, but fridge hs stopped keeping thing cool. If we switch off and leave for 24 hours - works fine. I heard something about a pipe that allows recirc. air into...

You have a defrost system problem. When you turn it off the ice melts on the cooling coils so, when you turn it back on it works.

The defrost system consists of a timer, heater, and thermo disk. Any one or all could be bad. If you want to DIY I can give you more details:

Freezer/Rerigerator not cooling

defrost system has failed. for a temporary repair, melt ice off with a hairdryer but dont heat up any stats mounted on the pipework.

check continuity thro the defrost heater and thermal fuse in series with heater with a multimeter.

if both of these are ok, points to a module fault

  • 4 hours is not enough to defrost it. also it will just frost back up if it has a bad heater, defrost timer or thermal switch.
it is not defrosting as it should.
  • possible causes:
  1. bad defrost timer/control board
  2. bad defrost heater (in freezer)
  3. bad thermal switch in freezer
If you don’t know what these are then unplug the machine and let the ice melt in the freezer overnight with the door open. Then try it the next day, if is cooling fine then you need to have a service person replace one of the above items.

Freezer side works fine

you probably have a defrost issue. things to check are:
defrost heater not open circuit
there is often a thermal cutout in series with the heater and this may be open circuit.
defrost sensor may be wrong value.
fault in module

Whirlpool not cooling properly

I would expect the defrost timer to stay in defrost 21 minutes. IT seems your timer is normal.
If turning the ref section temp colder made compressor come on, it could be that the thermostat is worn a little and just needs to stay on a little cooler setting. Check the freezer temp dial and It should be at just slightly more than 1/2 of available setting. If there is A B C you would want to be a little cooler than B about B and 1/4.
I hope this helps K S
