Why wont my R4i card work with my DS lite??

Ive got a ds lite and bought an r4i card because i read that the r4i was backwards compatible and wasnt sure weather i was going to get a DS lite or a DSi, anyways i bought it preloaded with games, supposed to be 'ready to go' however when i turned it on the error date msg came up, i fixed this by moving the date back to january. but then i tried again and it went to the menu then crashed, now the screens just turn black when i try to play games, can someone help me out? i figure i need to download some sort of driver? but ive got no idea what or where from, PLEASE HELP!!

Hello Princess,

There is a latest update for the R4i card that should fix that error. Do you have the real one? It should look like this http://www.dscardworld.com/dsi-cards/r4i-sdhc.shtml

Check the download page for the latest R4 SDHC software.

Yes, his games will work, as the DSi will be fully backwards compatible. You should be able to use the same memory card that he uses in the DS Lite.

R4i SDHC Upgrade Revolution refuses to work

If you have a normal DS or DS lite, the R4i will not work as this is designed for the DSi.

Hope this helps

It could be that you lack the compatibility for the newest games. You might need to update your software, but the R4 Hyper is an old card that doesn't get regular updates.
You might have to get used to not being able to play the latest games unless you get a new card that does have regular updates from the manufacturer like the R4i SDHC

Sounds like bad card stability. Why did you get the R4i Gold instead of the proven R4i SDHC?

My ds lite has: "system date error" how do i fix

Hi there,

Let us investigate in this matter and try to resolve it.

Since the 10th of April, 2010, some users of the Nintendo DS and DSi and the R4i SDHC card have experienced an error that stops the DS card / DSi card from being used. The error contains the message “Loading… System date error! Please check NDS system date” when a user turns on their Nintendo DS, Nintendo DS Lite, Nintendo DSi or Nintendo DSi XL console.
The reason of this error seems to be an incompatibility between the actual system date on the Nintendo DS console and the R4i SDHC card. This is possible of the Nintendo DS was played until it lost all power, or if the memory card within the R4i SDHC was formatted incorrectly. It can also be attributed to the date simply being incorrectly calibrated. In some situations, transferring a .SAV file from another Nintendo DS that has a different system date on it, can also trigger the problem. It currently seems to be that the problem only manifested itself after the 10th of April, 2010. While the team behind the R4i SDHC are working on a fix to be a future part of a software update, consumers are advised to go into their Nintendo DS system settings and set the date back until the R4i SDHC card can continue to function as normal. In some cases, setting the date back up to a month is required to temporarily solve the problem.
google_protectAndRun("ads_core.google_render_ad", google_handleError, google_render_ad); Until a software solution is found, the R4i SDHC team would suggest consumers keep their dates wound back. To hear the latest about what solutions, both temporary and permanent, please visit the blog on http://www.dscardworld.com where solutions will be tested before presented to the public.
Hope that works.

R4i gold not working on dslite

Hello Pmkfc,

Try the latest menu firmware from the manufacturer website. The R4i Gold, hasn't been the best card in awhile though. The cards made by the R4 SDHC team tend to be better. If you start running into compatibility issues I might get a new one.

If you're looking to get genuine cards for your ds (there are fakes out there), take a look here, http://www.dscardworld.com. I managed to find this site after I got burned at a few others. Loved having my emails responded to because I had loads of questions, and they were quick to ship it. US based support and shipping I believe.

Got r4i card. When inserted into ds lite, message says ''Loading....'' However nothing happens after this. Any ideas ?

Wrong, wrong, wrong Megan.

The R4i works on DSL as wekk as DSi however, some of these cards are dodgy (apparently about 30%!) and this is a known issue. With the dodgy cards it can take 2 to 3 minutes to load a game. Just leave it at the loading screen for up to 4 minutes...if it still doesn't load you're card is totally goosed

Games on r41 card wont play on ds

The R4i will work just fine on a DS Lite, I don't know what you're talking about. As for the DSi, it depends on which R4i it is. f you have the R4i Gold, then I'm sorry to tell you, there's no workaround for DSi 1.4. If you have R4i SDHC (redbox) then you can get the latest firmware to make it work again.

There's a great tutorial to set it up on http://www.dscardworld.com with pictures and links to all the official software on their supportpage. And I noticed they made a video about it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QV4sNQf2uS4
