Question about Heating & Cooling

I have a split system air conditioner that spews water whenever we turn it on. How would we go about fixing this issue? Seems the drainage isn't working right. The air conditioner is a Fujitsu.

    Hello,

its not that the drainage is not working, but I think it should be leaking. Open up the air conditioner, gain access to the drainage, and seal up where it is leaking and that's all.

    Take care.

Thanks for the reply. Would you have any take apart instructions for this? The last time the air conditioner guy came by for the same problem, he said that our drainage was clogged.

A good amount of water does come out of the air conditioner.....

Water leakages out the front are usually attributed to poor drainage. IE , the wall unit is not sloping slightly to the rear, or in the case of a split system, the drain hose is not directed down and away from inside. I would suggets checking the filters first. If the filters are blocked, and the cooling is set really low, its possible for the coil to start freezing and thus, leak water out the front. If the filters are clean and the coil is still freezing, you may have a gas shortage . Eventually when the gas runs out, the water leak will stop and the unit wont cool at all. If the system is working properly, on cooling mode, there should be cold air inside and the unit should be blowing hot air outside. If on heating mode, the reverse happens...

White snow.. I had this issue when 2 inside unit electrical lines were hooked up backwards at the compressor. The compressor would pump too often and overcool the inside unit, because it was using the wrong temperature sensor. But you could have a different issue. I'd have them recheck your freon levels, that can cause it to cool too much - should be 120-135psi when it is running, after 5-10 minutes or so. They adjust this for the outside temperature though.

My Lg split system air con spits water

Make sure the unit is tilted downward at the back. About 1" lower than the front is good. Even with a drain, the water will pool inside if it doesn't have a slope for drainage.

- Check your air filter at the indoor if clean.
- Check your evaporator fins if clean.
- Check if no icing in your evaporator and outdoor pipes.
- If your air filter and evaporator fins is clean and icing is present then your unit is under charge.
- When your indoor drips check your drain pipe if there are water comes out. If no water drain from your drain pipes then your drainage is restricted.
- Flush your drainage with water using your garden hose to flush out dirts from your drainage.

3 places where water could be coming from, The Ground, The venting system or the Condensate. Eliminate each one by first checking the condensate piping and check to make sure it is draining to the drain. Blow thru all hoses to make sure they are not blocked. Secondly, spray with a garden hose the venting system to see if the water is entering the system thru the venting. Lastly, if this happens only when it rains, you could have a ground water drainage issue.
