    Hi! Thanks for the reply.

I checked everything on the Freezer.

    • Water line does have water.

    • Ice Maker does work

    • Laser Sensor that activates Ice Box when door is closed does work

I believe the line is frozen somewhere. Does that mean I'll have to defrost the whole icebox? The water line seems to run into the top of the freezer.

    Thanks in advance.

I'll try this out and let you know. Thanks for the quick reply.

I got the icemaker off. There is a black nozzle sticking down for the water. Can I pull that down or do I need to be careful? I don't have a hair dryer, but I got a steamer. I'll try that on the tube.

How will I know I got the clog? Will the water just come out or is there a way I can test this?

  • Madn3zz May 04, 2010

Whew. Probably spamming you with way too much replies. Got the Ice Maker off. Checked the nozzle. Doesn't seem like it's frozen. I don't know how far up I can get up in the nozzle though. I have a steamer and put it there for 5 minutes. Only a few drops of water came out.

What other steps should I try next?

There may be a possiblity that there isn't water in the line. I may have misdiagnosed the line. Unfortunately the line runs into the bottom of the ice box. Is it safe to pop the bottom open? Can I disconnect the line or is it going to leak out? I'm assuming it's running into a water pump or something.

Make sure first that the ice maker is turned on, the water fill nozzle is not frozen, the valve is working, and water is present in the water supply line. Check the optics system of the ice maker that consists of an emitter and a receiver. The emitter transmit a beam of infrared light and it is detected by the receiver. If the beam of light is interrupted, the ice maker will not work. Make sure the beam of light is not blocked or interrupted.

The part of the fill tube just above the ice maker is most likely frozen. Remove the ice maker then thaw it using a hair dryer. Once thawed, verify the flow water into the ice maker. Running a hot water through the fill tube or unplugging the refrigerator and leaving it open will unfreeze the water fill tube.

Open the freezer door and close the spring-loaded emitter door and open the ice maker door. Push the ice maker door to the left so that the right pin disengages from the pivot arm then lift the pin out of the pivot and remove the left pin.

Remove the wire shield screw from the bottom of the ice maker then from the rear, slightly lift the top of the wire shield and then pull it back to release it from the ice maker.

Press up on the two retaining clips, one on each side, at the bottom of the ice maker tracks then pull the ice maker forward, disconnect the wiring harness connector and remove the ice maker.

The frozen part of the fill tube can now be accessed and defrosted.

Disconnect the tubing from the back panel fitting then check the water flow from there. The restriction is in the tube within the top of the refrigerator if the water flow is good; otherwise, the water inlet valve is faulty.

The water lines run through the water valves inside the compartment at the bottom rear of the refrigerator. The ice maker water line valve is most likely not working or it is stuck closed if water is being supplied only to the water dispenser. The water valves can be accessed with the removal of the compartment cover and the water inlet line can be disconnect.

The tubes can be disconnected from the water valve assembly. Verify the condition of the ice maker water line by reversing the water valve outlet tubes and using a cheater cord, supply 120 VAC to each valve then check if water is being supplied. The water valves are sold as an assembly and be replaced as a whole if either of water dispenser and ice maker valve is not working.

Take a look into the control board connections if the water valves both activate with the use of a cheater cord. Make sure the water valve solenoid connections are clean and snug fit. Reseat the connections several times to help clean out connectors and terminals.

Check your temperatures, that typically happens when the freezer is not cold enough, Clean your condenser, that may be the cheapest fix.

I have a Kenmore model number 106.51552104 my ice maker stopped making ice.. The water on the door still works but no ice what should I do??

I believe I answered this one on another page of unsolved problems HERE. Thanks for the model number. If the ice slots inside the ice maker are empty try pouring tap water in the slots and allow the water to freeze. If after the water freezes the ice drops into the ice bucket and the ice maker does not refill this would indicate that the side of the=> W10408179 Water Inlet Valve is defective on the side that controls ice maker water supply. If the ice maker just sits there and does nothing this would point to a defective ice maker. Depending what is wrong with the ice maker will determine what parts are replaced. Here is a list of those parts here=> Kenmore Refrigerator Model 106.51552104 Ice Maker Parts and if need you may be able to find a complete ice maker replacement by asking. Most people don't like replacing ice maker parts. I am here should you have questions or comments, Sea Breeze
