Question about Roper REX4634KQ Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Orange wire i have a roper model # rex4634kq0. I took apart the back of the dryer to clean it up in there and noticed there is a orange wire that connects to the timer, but the other end does not connect to anything else. I'm not sure if this is normal or if it came loose when I took off the back panel

Look in the wire schematics that came with the dryer or look them up online. They should tell you what that wire is for.

I took apart my dryer to investigate a noise. While it was apart I noticed arcing at the terminals. L1 had completely melted. I purchased a new terminal block and installed it. Everything went back...

Hi herbert hurt...
The noise you are hearing could be your drum rollers.
They could need cleaning and lubrication or replacement.
If they need lubrication they will make a squeeling noise, if they have flat spots on them they will make a thumping type of noise.
If that is you noise then take the dryer apart and lube, clean, or replace the drum rollers

I have seen a similar question before. Look up the wire schematics and see what that wire is for. The sire schematics usually come with the dryer.

I have a roper dryer. I took it apart today

Remove all duct work connected to this dryer. Clean thoroughly. You will find amass of lint inside of it causing your problem. If not the moister sensor is not working properly and needs to be replaced.
I do hope you will find a clogged vent tube for it is easier to clean the tube than to replace the sensor. The sensor is a fail safe part. It keeps the dryer from catching on fire when the lint tube is clogged up

"does the neutral hook up to the element?"

Yes - the element requires a neutral (white wire) connection and is generally wired in parallel with the fan.

Changing from 3 to 4 wire hookup on a electric dryer:
Power cord help for 3 & 4 prong dryer cords
This is an example of a three wire connection dryer cord hookup. Notice that there is a ground strap connected from the common center terminal to the frame of the terminal block. Place the center wire of the cord on the center terminal [ one with the ground ******** it ] and the other two wires will be placed on the outer terminals and it doesn't matter which wire goes right or left. Get the center wire of the cord right and you are in business.
This is an example of the 4 wire dryer cord hookup. Notice that the ground strap has been removed from the terminal block frame and folded back onto the center terminal for storage. You can see the colors of the other hookups. TIP: White always to the middle.

Roper Electric Dryer Heats but drum won't spin

Yank the filter out the top. Remove the 2 screws in the filter housing. Use a putty knife to pop the top and then remove the screws holding the front on. NOTE: raise up on the front panel slightly so you won't damage the bottom clips. Get the front out yer way and remove the drum. Clean out the dryer and oil the rollers and idler. Use this handy ROUTING GUIDE to see how to put the belt back.

Roper dryer won't heat

first thing is check the voltage between the black and red terminals at the back of the dryer. you should read 240v. then check the voltage between the balck and the white and the red and the white. there should be 120v at each. if all that is good remove the back of the dryer. make sure you unplug it first. then no the lower right you will see the heater. near the top of the heater you will see a red wire and a red/with a white stripe wire attached to the high limit cutout. remove one wier and check the switch for continuity. if you read nothing its bad and thats why there is o heat. Ifnit checks good replace the wire and then remove one red wire from the heater. then check the heater with your meter. most times on the whirlpool products its one of the two that is bad. check the two thing I described and if you still need help feel free to get back to me and we can go from there.Good luck
