As you have forgot the passcode you will have to restore the iPhone using iTunes.

Note: This process will wipe all data from your iPhone 4. You may be able to sync most of the data back once you have restored it.

1. With the iPhone 4 disconnected from your computer, power it off. Press and hold the Power button on the top of the device for a few seconds, then slide the red slider. If this method doesn't work, press and hold the Power and Home buttons for a few seconds until it goes off.

2. With the iPhone 4 off, press and hold the Home button while connecting it to the computer you registered it from. It should then power on.

3. Keep holding the Home button until you see a Connected to iTunes message appear on the screen.

4. Open iTunes and it should provide a message about an iPhone connected in Recovery Mode.

5. In iTunes, select the Summary tab and click Restore and follow the prompts.

6. You may attempt to sync your iPhone back to your iTunes to restore any data lost in the recovery process.

I hope this helps! Thank you for using FixYa!

What can you do to bypass and reset a forgotten passcode on an iPod touch, iPhone, or iPad? You can't recover your passcode. Good news is that you may be able to reset the passcode by restoring the device.
A) Previously synced your iPhone/iPad with iTunes? If yes, then try the following:
  1. Connect your device to your computer that you normally sync it to, and thus contains the backup files.
  2. Launch iTunes.
  3. Select Back up by right-clicking (or Control-clicking) the device.
  4. After Back up is completed, select Restore and then restore from your most recent backup.
If iTunes prompts you to enter the passcode when you connect to your computer (*), or if the above does not work, try the following option.
B) If you did not previously sync your iPhone/iPad with iTunes, then try following:
You need to force the phone into recovery mode and restore it as a new device to remove the passcode. To do this:
  1. Disconnect your device (iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch), but leave the USB cable connected to your computer.
  2. Turn off your device by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds.
  3. Launch iTunes.
  4. Press & hold the home button while reconnecting the USB cable to your device. Continue holding the home button until you see "Connect to iTunes" on the screen; this will also cause the iPhone to turn on.
  5. You should see the "recovery mode" alert:
"iTunes has detected an iPhone (or iPad) in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad (or iPhone) before it can be used with iTunes."
Now that your device is in recovery mode, you must restore the device. You may either restore it to a previous point, or set it up as a new phone. This will wipe all files and settings, including the passcode. If you see a message stating that your phone is locked (*) and you need to enter your passcode, just ignore and close this message.
Note: Make sure that you are using the latest version of Itunes before attempting this.
(*) Passcode error message: iTunes could not connect to the iPad/iPhone because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the iPad/iPhone before it can be used with iTunes

Reset forgotten password

You will most likely have to restore your iphone through itunes. You can do this but the only draw back will be losing any apps, music and contacts that are not saved or backed up through your itunes account. If you want to restore your iphone which is the only way you can bypass your passcode, you first need to connect your Iphone up to your itunes account through a laptop or PC. After the computer connects up to your phone, first press the power button and count to 3 and keeping the power button pushed in press and hold the home button. Keep both buttons pressed in until the iphone goes into recovery mode and than release both buttons at the same time. It may take 30 seconds. You should be able to restore your iphone and than you will be able to put in a new passcode. If you put it into recovery mode and you change your mind don't worry, just press and hold the power button until the apple symbol appears and than release it and it will take you back to the locked screen.

Passcode forgotten iphone

If you can't remember your passcode, you'll need to erase your device using iTunes, Find My iPhone, or recovery mode. Then use a backup to put your data and settings back on your device. You can try plugging it into iTunes to see if it reboots itself. iOS Forgotten passcode or device disabled after entering wrong passcode

Trying to reset password - tried following link provided

Which Link ???????.....
Is it for an iphone???....

Every Apple iPhone has the ability to use a "passcode"--a four-digit number that must be entered to bring the iPhone out of standby mode when it has been locked.
If you are the first owner of the iPhone and have forgotten the passcode that you initially entered, you can simply reset the passcode by connecting the iPhone to the computer that was originally used to activate it.
However, this does not help if you purchased the phone used and are not the original owner.
Put your iPhone into recovery mode to restore the iPhone and clear the passcode.

Connect the iPhone to your computer using the USB cable.
Hold down the power button on the iPhone.
The screen will change asking you to use a slider to power the unit off. Use the slider.
Press the power and home (bottom-center) buttons simultaneously.
The unit will power back on. After a few seconds, the screen will change to a warning triangle. The iPhone is now in recovery mode.
Launch iTunes and click on the iPhone icon on the left side of the screen.
Make sure that the "Summary" tab is selected and scroll down until you see the "Restore" button. Click "Restore."

Click "Don't Back Up," then click "Restore."
The iPhone will be reverted to its original factory settings, which will clear the passcode.
Note that the Restore process will also remove all other data from the iPhone, including music, contacts, notes and saved e-mails.

Iphone passcode not working and phone went into disable mode...we have sim card can we at least take out sim card and have it "read" on our home computer so we don't lose the data then...

unfortunately the iPhone does not save any data on the SIM card, unless the card came out of an older phone it may have contacts on but the iPhone does not save to the SIM it can only read from it. So as you probably have feared you will have to restore the iPhone back to its factory settings and if you do not have a backup on your computer you will lose all data. I am sorry.

My phone keeps saying no service. What do I do?

Assuming you did the initial troubleshooting:

Battery pull and sim card removal; then place sim and battery back in.

The next step would be going to one of your carriers stores.  They can give you a test sim to put in your phone to verify whether or not its the sim card.

Hope this helps,
Bill

Txt n on the iphone

it's a workaround, but it works if you're going to leave your phone unattended...
First, go to Settings > General > Passcode Lock Turn the passcode on and create a password to protect your phone--set this to the time you prefer for your phone to go into locked mode.
Next, under the same Passcode Lock screen, set the "Show SMS Preview" to off.
Lastly, when you're going to be away from your phone, set the phone to Airplane Mode under general settings.  By setting to airplane mode, you won't get any new information pushed to you.
If you're not in airplane mode, it will still show on your home screen that you received a text message from a specific number but it won't preview the message. In order to retrieve the message you will have to go into the sms function, which will require that you enter your passcode.
It's not perfect and it requires you to think about it, but it will work for you.

Error Message "no SIM card installed"

Hold down the power switch at the top and the main selection button at the bottom. After a few seconds a new screen should come up that allows for shutdown should you slide the slider to the right. DO NOT SLIDE THE POWER OFF. Keep holding the two buttons down. Wait until the silver apple logo comes on the screen. At this point you may release the two buttons. Continue to wait while the iPhone reboots. Once the iPhone finishes booting the "No Sim" message should be gone and you should see bars again. No new sim card or reactivation required!
