We overloaded the dryer and now the dryer is making a very sharp lloud noise when running. Im wondering if the belt is torn. Im not sure if i should look in to a repair person or if i should do it myself. Please let me know what part is damaged if you know and i will see if its worth my while to do it myself. thanks

The rear drum bushing or the front drum slides (or both) are probably worn out. You can view the rear drum bushing by removing the small plate in the center of the rear panel. Check if the center pin on the drum is touching the rear drum bushing housing. The rear bushing is made of plastic and is only about 1/16" thick, so look closely. If the loud noise is metal on metal at the rear drum bushing, replace the whole rear bushing assembly (drum center pin, bushing, and housing). Often, the front drum slides also need to be replaced. Check them before you buy the rear bushing. There are two at the bottom front of the drum and four more at the top front of the drum. You'll have to remove the front panel to check them.

I have a maytag dryer that sometimes when I hit the start button will start and run for only a few minutes and stop and wont start again for a while and does a humming noise when it does star why?

Sounds like the motor is going into thermal overload (Getting hot) it may be caused by the motor itself, or could be overloaded by bearings or fan etc

Why does my gas dryer make a loud vibration noise?

Hey friend, I appreciate your post!

I understand that your Electrolux gas dryer is making a loud vibration noise and is also loud while tumbling. There are several components in your dryer that could be causing this noise. Based off what you are describing it might be an issue with your suspension rollers, motor, or pulley. Since it could be any of these underlying issues I would suggest getting a technician out to diagnosis and repair your dryer. Hope this is helpful. - Matt

Dryer stops

If the hum is loud I would suspect something is jammed and the motor is stopped leading to a heavy current running through the motor. After 5 or 10 minutes I would anticipate the circuit breaker would trip or the motor would burn up. If the humming suddenly stops then a thermal overload switch might be activating and when it cools down normal operation resumes. This is my only insight.

Husband overloaded it it is getting hot but when it spins it makes a triibly loud noise now and then stops spinning after a minute

Sounds like maybe a bearing, a wheel, or a glide problem.

Not all dryers are made the same, I have posted pictures and videos for American dryers HERE

Post back your brand and model and I can be a bit more specific.

While the dryer is running there becomes a loud noise and it automatically shuts its self off

May be your motor shutting off on its overload. If you can start it right away it may be something else but if it takes 5-10 minutes before you can start it again its probably the motor. Make sure a sock or something isn't caught in the blower wheel.

A loud banging noise when dryer is running. Sounds like washer does when it has an uneven load. But dryer is not even close to being overloaded. Since it is a top loader dryer and the drummer rolls shut...
