Question about Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

My stero is not loud enough.

I just bought an Onkyo HCT RC180 and I have to turn the volume up to -20 to hear my new klipsh speakers. How can I get the same volume the stores have? I live in a one bedroom apt. and I can't generate enough sound to bother my neighbors. My front speakers are Klipsh F-10 and I have a Klipsh surround sound 5speaker package with a Polk subwoofer. I can not get all speakers to come on nor can I get the sound loud in any mode.

Onkyo ht-rc180 standby light blinks will not start.i tryed factory reset, still blinks

The amp protection circuit has been activated. Remove the power cord from the wall outlet immediately. Disconnect all speaker cables and input sources, and leave the AV receiver with its power cord disconnected for 1 hour. After that, reconnect the power cord and reconnect an input and a pair of speaker wires onto the unit. If the receiver still does not turn on than you will have to bring it in for service. Turn up the volume and if the receiver doesn't shut down, power off the receiver and add another pair of speakers. Power up the unit again and turn up the volume. If it doesn't shut down, power off the unit again. Now connect all your input sources and turn on your receiver. If the unit shuts down again, your unit will need to be further serviced at an authorized Onkyo service center.

How do I connect my hct HSP 501 subwoofer to tv

The cheapest way of connecting your flat screen and speakers is to use the TV's headphone jack. It's not the best quality, but a lead will cost a couple of Pounds/Dollars and it will do unless you want the sound really loud. This will connect to the HCT's stereo line in socket labelled "2CH Input".

don't know if you'll get sound out of all speakers or just the front two and sub though. That depends entirely if the HCT is smart enough to make a stereo signal play all round.

Be aware; some TVs have a separate volume control for the headphone level. It's buried in the menus.

If you want the best quality, or there's no headphone jack on your TV, then the answer is to use the TV's Optical output. This sends a signal in digital form as a series of light pulses. This isn't directly compatible with the stereo input of a speakers. There's no kind of cable or plug adapter you can buy that converts this just through a piece of wire. So you would buy an Optical to Stereo phono/RCA converter that can translate light pulses into a stereo signal. Here's a link to one from Amazon. It is less than 10 Pounds Sterling

You then need a couple of connecting cables: An optical lead from TV to the box, and the stereo phono lead.

When using Optical, the TV's volume control has no effect at all on the volume going out via the cable. You have to use the volume control on the speakers. Does the HCT have a volume control? If not, don't waste your time with them. Go buy a soundbar and use that instead.

I have just bought a new Onkyo TX-NR808 and set it up over the week end with new 'accusound' surround sound speakers. Have bi-amp the front speakers. I don't think I am getting very good sound out of it?...

Depending on the amplifier, it might not provide enough power (in Watts) to the speakers. If the speakers require more power, it won't be as loud.

My peavey CS4000 IS TRIPING IN AND OUT WHEN I TURN THE VOLUME UP IN BOTH STERO AND MONO MODE. MY IS TO 15'' 1600 watt RMS subwoofer 8 OHMS SPEAKERS

How loud? Or how high on the volume? Any amp can produce a heck of a lot of dirty power (well above its 'clean' rated power) if pushed hard enough. Distortion will rise rapidly and speaker-killing clipping can occur. It's trying to tell you to back off.

Hooking laptop to onkyo sr604 through hdmi no sound through stero

hdmi is video only

you will need to use the rca/phono inputs for audio.

you will need a stereo mini jack to steroe rca/phono

use the i/p marked aux/cd/

make sure the volume on the onkyo is turned DOWN before connecting any new input source.

The output from most laptops is designed for headphones so you may need to adjust the volume on the laptop DOWN as well.

Perhaps start off with laptop at 30% and the amp DOWN then increase the amp until you can hear the laptop sound.

To get good quality audio from a laptop you would be beter off with a USB sound card.

hope this helps, thanks for using FixYa

if this is helping please vote.

I AM GETTING VERY LITTLE SOUND FROM THE SYSTEM

When did this start? What happened just prior to that?

Turn the volume DOWN for any further analysis. If it isn't loud enough to hear well at 1/4 volume, cranking it to the stops will not resolve it AND when you finally find the misplaced switch you may launch all of your speaker drivers right out of their cabinets.

Do you mean the MUTE button does not CHANGE the volume? It sounds like you're muted already and it doesn't UNmute. Is MUTING lit on the display?

Does it happen with all sources? Use onboard FM to troubleshoot as it can't be connected wrong.

Have to turn the volume near max on my Onkyo receiver to hear TV

it sounds like a source level adjustment refer to your users manual and see if there is a way to turn the SLA up and if not then a small amp can be bought or purchased to boost the sound from the tv. check out the Fiio E5 for examples it might just do the trick

When i turn up the stero the power turns off and the red standby light flashes till i turn it back on

Firstly i would disconnect all speakers and turn amp up if still does it then there is an overload in amplifier anbd needs to be repaired..

If not then connect speaker 1 at a time and try amp volume again, you could also get a multimeter and check across speaker terminals on boxes for different resistance readings..

Laptop speakers problem

There are 2 volume control buttons on the laptop. 1 turns it up 1 turns it down. Try turning the volume up. It may be up high enough for you to hear with headphones but now loud enough to be heard through the speakers.
