Remove the label from the center of the fan.
Look inside the hole. Some have a rubber bung in the hole.
The fan is usually retained in the housing by a nylon washer with a split in it.
Get something like a really thin blade/needle and you can ease it off the fan spindle without breaking it. It sits in a groove on the fan spindle.

My dell leptop fan is not working is there any way to let me whether fan is burnt out or is not working due to accumulation of dust .

Fans generally are rather tough, they are built to survive the dust. These are brushless motor driven fans meaning that they work with a bit of circuitry located beneath the Hub. Clean the fan of dust and then apply 12DC to the correct polarity. It is possible that your fan has worn out which does occur after some years. A replacement fan and/cooler can be found either at your local computer store or on E-bay.

They are not too expensive considering that they save your CPU from overheating.

Take care!

I need a 2x2 brushless fan model # rdm5015s dc 12 volt. where do i find one please?

Perhaps try Google's Product Search?

It appears to be a fairly standard 50x50x15mm fan with a two pin type 2 connector. Try looking for a two pin 50mm fan with a thickness of less than or equal to 15mm.
A quick search I've done can be found here.

LOUD cooling fan noise comes and goes...usually when downloading and sometimes when just sitting unused. have cleaned it completely ...someone said possible fan drivers or heatsink (colling fins are...

Some fans are automatically temperature-controlled -- they speed up, and, of course, make more noise, as the temperature rises.

Background tasks, such as Windows Automatic Update and scheduled virus-scans, can cause the computer to become "busy" when otherwise "sitting unused".

Next time the noise increases, enter CTRL-ALT-DELETE and open "Task Manager", and click the "Performance" tab, to see if the CPU-usage is reaching 100%. Click the "Processes" tab, and then click on the 'CPU' column-heading, and click it a SECOND time, so that Windows lists the "top" consumers of CPU at the top of the list of processes. Which process is consuming the majority of the CPU?

Dell 5160 stop all of sudden. Message shows CPU too hot. What should I do?

There are 3 or 4 possible causes:
The fan in the computer is damaged.
You are using the computer on a very hot environment.
or ventilation outlets in the computer are blocked.

Intel PC wont boot past startup and keeps shutting down unless I disconnect the cooling fan, let it start and then reconnect the fan

hi,

might have to get a higher wattage power supply,
the initial amperage draw plus everything else may be causing the stock power supply volts to dip past the limit
maybe download the intel active monitor and study that, or hook up a voltmeter and watch the output at startup.

good luck with your toy

Socket 478 3 GHz Intel CPU overheating

Simply open/unlock the clips and pull the heatsink off. Then you will need to remove the termal compound from both on top of the CPU and from the bottom of the heatsink. Papertowel + rubbing alcohol works well. Then you will need to re-apply thermal compound before reseating the heatsink/fan.

How to change

Hi

Replacing the heatsink fan on a PC is not a difficult job, but it pays to be thorough, especially with cleaning the top of the CPU die before replacing the fan.

Don't be mean with money when choosing a new cooler either. With CPU coolers you get what you pay for. I personally always use coolers from a company called Zalman.

Ok ..with that out of the way ..the basics are ...remove old cooler..

They are either held on by a sprung clip that fits across the cooler and locates in lugs on the cpu socket surround, or they are held by screws that go through the motherboard.

Clean the top face of the cpu die carefully making sure to use a blunt implement ..... scratches on the machined face will lead to premature failure due to overheating.

If the cooler you buy has a "thermal pad" stuck to the face of the heatsink, then remove this too and clean up the heatsink face. Use good quality thermal paste on the top face of the CPU die, then fit the new cooler. Getting the right amount of thermal paste is a bit of an art .... too much is a bad as too little. The paste is NOT a glue. The paste simply fills in any imperfections on the machined surfaces of the cpu die and the heatsink to aid heat transfer.

Does this sound complicated? It isn't really. The key is not to rush it and make sure the surfaces are completley clean and the thermal paste applied correctly.

Here is a link to one tutorial on fitting cpu coolers that you might find useful:
