It may not need to be connected anywhere, those are often power from the stereo to the amp, so the amp turns on with the stereo. Also, is it 2 speakers, 4 speakers, 6 speakers?

I lost my rmum242 sony remote for my stereo receiver if i buy another one will the new one work? or do I have to have the origianal one?

A universal remote control may allow some, but not all, functions to be performed. It might be worth the extra expense to buy an exact (or functionally equivalent) replacement remote

I cant get a stereo hooked up

Your question is not very specific but I expect that you have discovered that Volvo does not bother to color code their sound system wiring. They seem to use whatever wire they have laying around, so there is no particular pattern, and often all the wires are the same color.
If your car still has the original stereo plugs, you can buy a wiring kit from the installation shop at Best Buy. It will have a plug that plugs into the Volvo plug and wires that are color coded to standard color coding so you can figure out how to connect it to the new stereo. I not only had to put in a new stereo, but I had to bypass the original amplifier in my '91. The kit from Best Buy made it all Plug and Play!

I am tryin to remove the factory radio from a 2000 Nissan Altima and install an aftermarket radio. but i cant seem to figure out a way to get the trim panel around the radio and HVAC module out. And i can...

  • disconnect the negative battery cable from the Altima's battery.

  • 2

Pry up the trim panel surrounding the gear stick. The trip panel is held in place by plastic clips that will disengage when the panel is pried up. Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry up the panel. The panel doesn't need to be completely removed, just pried up enough to reveal two Phillips screws along the bottom of the radio trim panel.

  • 3

Remove the two Phillips screws along the bottom edge of the radio trim panel, just above the gear stick. Remove the two Phillips screws from above the radio. Remove the ashtray.

  • 4

Pry the radio trim panel loose with your fingers or a flat-head screwdriver and remove it.

  • 5

Remove the four Phillips screws holding the radio in place. Set the screws aside for use later. Slide the radio forward and disconnect the wires from the back of the device.

  • 6

Slide the cage included with your new stereo into your dash adapter. Slide the stereo into the cage and dash adapter.

  • 7

Connect the wires from the dash to the back of your new stereo. All stereos have slightly different connections methods, so refer to the owner's manual accompanying your new stereo for the proper connection procedure.

  • 8

Slide the stereo and dash adapter into the dashboard. Use the previously removed Phillips screws to mount the stereo in place. Replace the radio trim panel and gear stick trim panel. Reconnect your battery.

  • If you are putting a aftermarket stero make sure you buy a stero harness that plugs into the cars harness, on the back side of the harness you just installed will have open wires to conet to your new stero. If you cut the wires from your car to try to splice it to the new raido it can cause problems with the electrical system includeing making the transmission shift or act funny. you can pick the harness at wall-mart, car auido, best buy, or any car auido place.

Dodge radio starts then shuts off

    Hi Davis,

I had the same problem with Dodge Grand Caravan as well. I have a 2001 GCV and these radios go out all the time, plus each speaker has separate amps which some speaker will stop working. You will need a new stereo, however the dealership will charge you over $350 for the same replacement. I chose to go to BestBuy and buy a new Stereo for around $100 which has iPod connections which is a plus.
Next problem!!! Since each speaker has its own amp, in order to get the new stereo to work, I had to install a relay by tapping into the passenger side kicker panel master amp power supply to bypass the chip. Best Buy guy will know what to do. I suggest install the stereo yourself with a kit and go back to install an amp bypass relay switch. Hope that helps.

Stock Stereos **** and Dodge make is difficult to go aftermarket.....Good Luck
