This might just be that your using to many components online at the same time try shutting down anything else online or downloading of any sort and see if the issue continues, if your getting this wired and wireless it just sounds like you do not have the bandwidth to handle it all. If im wrong sorry. You could also try powering down router or even reseting it. and the modem maybe its just having issues with this unit. Sometimes they are finicky....

CONTINUAL DISCONNECTION OF WIRELESS CONNECTION
There are a few things that can cause you to lose wireless connection with your wireless router. 1. Weak signal strength, check the signal strength on your wireless card. If it is weak move the wireless router away from brick or concrete walls and if possible locate the wireless router higher up. 2. Have you secured your wireless router from people near your from unauthorized access? i.e. change the default password, setup encryption use WPA2 or WPA, change the default SSID, and turn off SSID broadcast, and for added protection, enable MAC address filtering which allows only the MAC address/es of your wireless card/s to connect to your wireless router. 3. You could be getting interference from electrical sources such as air conditioners, arc welders, washing machines etc. If so, the power supply to the wireless routers and computers etc should be connected to a surge protection power board, better still connect your computer equipment to an UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply). 4. Check the channels of the wireless routers and access points in your area and change the broadcast channel on your wireless router to an unused channel or one that is currently used but has the weakest signal strength. This will minimize interference with your wireless router from other wireless routers and access points in your area.

Hey, I'm a student renting a room in a house of about 5 rented rooms and the landlord upstairs. We have wireless internet from a: Thomson Gateway Product Name: TG585 v7 Software Release:...

The problem has more to do with your Internet Service Provider than your router. The more users online within your neighborhood the less bandwidth or signal strength you'll receive. For instance around noon each day is one of the busy times for Internet use everywhere. It also, depends and what's occurring amongst the users within the house. Downloading, streaming music or videos is very taxing to bandwidth especially if five users are trying to stream video at the same time. Perhaps you may need to increase your service speed. So if you have 3M service you may wish to move up to 5M,10M or 15M service.

My wireless adapter says i have a good connection, but when I go to play games online my signal strength changes so much it makes the game glitch

Whats going on is that your signal strength from the router is good but when playing a game the green bars that you see are not that of the signal strength but that of the internet Speed. Seems the signal is there but the internet speed is not I would restart modem and router see if this helps boost speed you can always check speeds at speedtest.net to be sure you are getting what you are paying for.

I had a linksys "g" router hooked up to a wireless desktop and a PS3. i got about a 65-75% signal strength on both.my online gaming was fine, but i would start the matches late and sometimes have a...

The lag could be because of a latency between your router and the gaming servers you are connecting to. Not a whole lot you can do about that.
FYI, signal strength of 65-75% isn't bad at all and shouldn't have a significant impact on your wireless performance. Keep in mind that your internet connection is usually the bottleneck for performance. If your wireless runs at 54Mbps with 100% signal strength, when you lose signal, it reduces the performance of your wireless. For example, if you were to get to 40% signal strength, your performance could be reduced to only 11Mbps. While that is a drastic drop for your local LAN performance, 11Mbps is still faster than the vast majority of internet providers currently have, so your in-game performance shouldn't change, based on less signal strength or less bandwidth.
As for your "N" router, if you have a 5Ghz or 2.4Ghz cordless phone in the location where you installed the router, there is a chance that it is conflicting with that frequency. Since you don't have that problem on your "G" router, I can only deduce that if this is the problem, you have a 5Ghz phone, since "G" operates only at 2.4Ghz. If you still have the "N" router, disconnect the phone, re-install the "N" router and see if that fixes your problem. If it does, then you may want to either stick to the "G" router anyway or upgrade your phone to the newer "wireless friendly" 6Ghz phones.

Connection interuptted wen playing online!

I am guessing the PS3 is hooked up through a router, either wired or wirelessly. You need to browse the router setup for the IP address of the PS3, then put the IP of the PS3 into the DMZ, also in the router setup. This should clear up any connection problems

Just hooked up ps3 wirless , gaming is slow

if your PS3 is closer than 20 feet from your router, then its unlikely to be your signal strength.  However, Wireless connections tend to "poll" their connected hardware. What I mean by taht is.... The router sends out a signal, just to check and make sure all the peripherals are still there.  I dunno about PS3 yet, cos I havent tried to game online, but I am an avid PC online gamer, my pc is within 5 feet of my router and Ive switched back to LAN cable to play.  I was experiencing periodic "lag"... due to that polling effect.  Try using the LAN cable and see if that makes a difference ( I dont know how many Ethernet RJ45 connections a Netgear has, ... if it only has one, you may need to connect a "switch" )
