Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I have recently successfully scanned some four hundred or so slide photos through a digital film & slide photo scanner onto my computer and into a file I have named "slide photos 1950--1963. I have grouped these photos into groups numbered 1. 2. and 3 and numbered the photos within each group as 001 to whatever as close to chronolgical order as i could and I now wish to present these photos as a slide show in that order. However the presentation does not show the photos as they are in the file but somewhat randomly. Is this normal in Slideshow or am I not doing something that would show the pictures in the sequence as per the file. If you could assist and advise me in this matter it would be very much appreciated . Thank you in anticipation. Doug Dent

IF you have given numbers exactly then it must be show slide show number wise.
Like in folder you have given numbers 1,2,3... then it show as number wise
For that you need to restore defaults of folder option.
Open my computer then go to Tools->folder option click on restore defaults.then apply and ok.
You can also use microsoft power point presentation for slide show.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.

My scans look like a negative and not a photo

When you go to scan your slides, the software should have a setting for "slides", or "negatives". Make sure you select the correct one for what you've put in.

I need an all in one printer that also has a negative scan facility. Any suggestions, I have 2000 slides to scan .

Do you want a recomendation?do you want new or used? Typically all in one users don't scan slides or film, but flat prints, so they don't have the lighted back lid needed to scan film.I know that the Epson Stylus PHOTO RX-620 & 700 had a holder for 4 slides or 1 strip of film about 8 inches long

Chances are that somewhere in your family photo collections you have a bunch of slides and negatives that you wish you could do more with. You may want to include them in your family history, to publish them on the Web, or simply to make digital copies so you can share them with the family.

If you've ever tried to scan a negative or slide on a regular flatbed scanner, you'll know that it doesn't work, and you end up with a pure black scan. In this article we'll show you how you get your negatives and slides into digital format, and what issues you may face along the way.

pixblue.gif Benefits Of Scanning Film

There are some key benefits to scanning film (we'll use the term to include slides and negatives) in comparison to scanning a photo. When you scan film, you can use the full area of the slide or negative, whereas a photo will generally only display a cropped portion of the original. You are also scanning the original source image rather than the color corrected and tweaked version of it that the photo processor has provided you with. The process of turning a negative image into a positive one involves inverting the colors in the image and removing the orange cast from the negative. This would be a complicated process if you were doing it by hand; however, your scanner will provide you with software to do this automatically, or you can purchase standalone software to do it.

Most cheaper flatbed scanners are designed to scan photos and other images that reflect light when it is shone onto them. The problem is that film is transparent and light passes through it rather than being reflected off it. Many flatbed scanners have an optional transparency adapter, which replaces the scanner lid with a larger box shaped ob....

Your question is unclear, but if you're asking how to take photographs on a non-digital film camera in order to edit them digitally then you'll need a film scanner (avoid cheap ones) or a flatbed scanner with film scanning abilities.

I've reverted to film from unreliable and over complicated digital cameras and scan all my negatives and transparencies using an Epson Perfection 4870 Photo scanner. They're nearly as good as the latest model but only cost around £100 for a used example in perfect condition with all original accessories.

I have vertical lines in my photos when i scan them

If the lines are in the same location for all scanned outputs, it is clearly dust on the scanner glass. Clean it thoroughly.

Will not scan photos, only slides

Where are you scanning from? Do you get an error? If scanning from Toolbox, check the box that says to use ScanGear or use the Scanner driver. Then make sure it is not set for Film as the select source.

Scanner wont scan transparencies properly

I have the same problem with my 4990. This began when I moved to a new computer running Vista. I've updated all drivers to the latest version including Epson Scan for Vista but the only thing the 4990 "sees" is reflective documents. Negatives are not recognized at all. I know this is probably a different problem from what you are having but the effect is the same.
