Question about Brother DCP-310CN All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Non of the inks are working, even though they are all new carts.

Had to replace the black ink when it ran out, but now non of the inks are working. Have tried cleaning the heads several times and then doing a test print, but each time the paper comes out blank.
Have tried entering the maintenance mode but without knowing what any of the options do I don't know what to choose.
There have been no error codes displayed apart from cartridge being empty.
Any help much appreciated. Chip
Printer is Brother DCP-310CN, about 2yrs old.

Thanx for your help Mix-it-up, finally getting some ink on paper!

Are the routines you suggested to me some kind of deep cleaning methods, and would it be possible for you to pass on any of the menu options and what they do from the Maintenance menu to me please?

    Thanx again, Chip

So go back to maintenance mode. Make sure all carts are at full level, placed well and are secured. press 7 then 6 then 4 by help of arrow-up and set key. display should be init_all. press start bk-copy. when finished (maintenance) press 7-6-3 then start bk-copy.
leave maintenance after cleaning procedure by pressing 9 then 9. If youre lucky the generic ink hasnt affected the ph. print a test prit. if you cant see any blocks nor signs the ph needs replacement.

anyway: if you use generic ink do mix some glycerol (glycerin alc.) from drugstore: 2ml of 85%-glycerol with 8ml of generic ink. This prevents the ph nozzels from drying out or clogging!

My Kodak esp 3200 series printer wont acknowledge the new black ink cartridge I just put in. Now it is saying-" black inkcartridge needs replacing-replace black ink cartridge".

Is this a genuine ink? If not then try removing and inserting a few times. If this does not work then unplug printer, leave for a few minutes then plug in and turn on. Some non-genuine inks (and some genuine) just do not ever work though.

Printer does not recognize new ink cartridge

Are you using "refilled" hp cartridges? If so, they may be interpreted as "empty" or a non-hp cartridge if the carrtidge shell was manufactured prior to the recent time that hp began coding the electrics on the same type cartridges. This can also happen if you are using "compatibles". If this is the case, try buying original new hp carts. If that is what you already have, return the cart to the store as defective and as for a replacement.

3eBk will not print. Canon MP780

Replacing the printhead may work, but it could be a problem with the cleaning assembly. Take out the 3ebk and run a cleaning, if the ink goes away on the pad where the ink cart. goes, then clean assy. is OK, and you need a new printhead.

Check that all, printhead and ink are seated and contacts are correct.

Power down the printer and allow for a complete power on and self test.

Cannot recognize ink cartridges

If you are using non genuine Epson carts, then you need to change the carts to genuine ones (full set I'm affraid)

Once you have replaced the carts you should find the error goes away. The problem arises somehow from non genuine carts when one (or more) is inserted that has not been "reset" properly by the refiller. This causes a cascading error through the ink monitoring system and ends up with all your inks going empty one after the other. I've seen this on several models of Epson printer.

The alternative is that the printer has fault on the main board. try the carts first it's the cheapest option. If the nmachine is in warranty, get Epson out to it.

Black ink cartridge ran out. i replaced it with an identical one and the printer keeps saying incorrect colour cartridge installed. the colour cartridge was already in and working

Either:
  • You have bought the wrong cartridge
  • The cartridge is not a genuine one and it is faulty(about 30% of some non branded carts are faulty)
  • The cartridge is a genuine one and is faulty (about 1% of genuine carts are faulty)
  • The cartridge cradle is faulty and can not read the cartridge chip properly.
i suggest you by another (genuine) cartridge and try it. If it works, you know the other "new" cartridge is faulty and can return if for a refund.

Printer problem

Try to unplug the printer from power. Wait a minute. Take all carts out. Close ink cover. Replug printer to power. Machine demands carts. Insert carts as demanded.

If you still have this error this could be due to generic ink carts. Ink may have stained the led control and the ink assy has to be replaced!
