Zenith sound issues

I have a somewhat older Zenith TV and my daughter got hold of the remote a few days ago and now the sound is off and i have tried everything to get it back on. I know the speakers still work because of the static i hear when i see snow. Any ideas?

I have tried that, along with changing and resetting every option that my remote will let me. If it were the mute button, I would not have posted this problem. Thank you though

Check the sound mute button in your remote and press it and watch the TV menu.

This mute signal, has to be tested at pin level in the main IC. Then the sound IC has to be checked.

If the video also missing it is a tuner problem! It may be AGC voltage and so on. If you can trouble shoot your self you can check all these points using schematic.

If you have DVD try. If sound is OK , the probable trouble in Tuner circuit area. You can arrive at a conclusion after this.

Reset your TV Lamp--------> ZENITH <----------------

If you replace the DLP lamp out of your Zenith or LG, you will need to reset the counter…Otherwise you may get an annoying reminder every few days if you’re surpassed the predetermined hour mark.

Ensure the TV is powered on.

    1. Press and hold the MENU button on the TV
    2. Press and hold the MENU button on your REMOTE (hold both these until the service menu pops up 5-10 secs max.)
    3. Let go of the REMOTE button first, then release the button on the TV
    4. Press and hold the ENTER (or OK) button on the TV
    5. Press and hold the MUTE button on the REMOTE(hold both until the LAMP LIFE HOURS appears on the screen)
    6. Let go of the REMOTE button first, then release the button on the TV We suggest writing your lamp hours on a piece of masking tape and taping it to the back the TV for future reference
    7. To reset the lamp counter, press SELECT (or the button in the middle of the direction arrove buttons). Hit SELECT a second time to confirm clearing the lamp counter

For certain models, you might have to tweak these steps slightly… offer your inputs!

    Zenith Lamp Light on

When the lamp is replaced the lamp timer must be reset. The timer is set for just so many hours and then the warning lamp is illuminated. The only way to reset the lamp that I am aware of is with a zenith programmer remote. Perhaps you can find a local lg/zen service center to allow you to use a programmer and instruct you on resetting the timer.
