Question about Panasonic CT-27G21 27" TV

1 Answer

No Blue TV has been great. Owned over 12 years. Been in the same spot for over a year and a half. Turned it on the other day, and seems to be NO BLUE. For example, if I hit TV/Video, normally an all blue screen, I get a big red bulls-eye, surrounded by greenish yellow ring, with very little blue in the corners. Watching cable, same picture, just way off on color. Checked settings, nothing changed. Is the tube toast? Looking for a reason to get rid of it anyway.

The bulls eye is what us TV repair guys call it. It is a perfect description. The tube is good. The automatic degausing circuit is not working because the black square thermistor D805 needs resoldering on the bottom of the board. You will find that a magnet will affect it, and a degaussing coil will make it look perfect for 1 week. Soldering the thermistor is a permanent solution.

TV worked fine for 12 years till this evening. When I push the power button there is an electronic clicking sound inside but the set will not turn on. The speaker still makes the quiet popping sound it...

The tv has a high voltage problem, sets that last ten years or more have come to the point where a new tv should be considered, because even if you fix it there is good chance something else will go wrong, remember the parts are twelve years old.

How long can this tv last for

I Have this very same TV and have had it for over 10 years, it still works great. The life of a TV can vary with every different use. Depending on how long the set is turned on and how many times you have turned it on and off. The off and on cycle is what greatly deminishes a TV's life span. If you start noticing the picture or color quality starting to fade it will be a hint that it may soon need replaced. ther eis the sudden failure of the power supply and then it will more than likely be done for. I would guess that you should get at least 12 years of use of this set, but as I said the life of these vary a great deal.

Screen is filled with a circular Red/Green/Blue pattern

The problem will be with the de-gausing circuit, this de-magnetises the tube when the set is switched on from cold, this is a fault you will need to get an engineer to look at ie, not a D.I.Y repair.

Tv will not come on at all

I had the same problem with my Sylvania TV. Turned out that the power supply in the tv was bad and had to be replaced. TV worked great for about 2 years then the same thing happened again. I recommend buying another brand.
