Consew 206 rb froze up suddenly-

I have pulle dout all the thread that I can see but, I can't get the hook/race assembly out without taking out a lot more screws. If I do that, will I be able to set the timing on my own?

You may want to lean the machine back and look very, very close for a very small piece of thread jammed in that race way. Resetting the timing is something you can do but first look for the simple stuff.

After cleaning the hook system which for which a problem was indicated., it still wouldn't work.

1. Clean the hook area again. Put one drop of oil on the race that the bobbin case rides on.
2. Make sure the holder on the bobbin case area is held secure while it is turning. It will need to be adjusted if the bobbin case wants to fall off of the race or has a lot of room when you move the handwheel back and forth. Test this by turning the hand wheel back and forth.
3. Once this is finished thread the machine through a new needle. a. Place the tension on four.
b. Now, turn the hand wheel towards you and hold the thread in back of the needle.
4. While doing this watch to see if the bobbin thread is pulled by the hook around the needle thread without getting stuck. (Needle now in rising motion still under plate.)
**If the bobbin thread cannot be pulled above the plate try to increase the top tension a small amount.
**If it still can't be pulled above the plate then loosen the bobbin a bit.
This may take a little while to get it right. Always, try to adjust from the top tension first.

I think timing is correct because hook catches thread every time, but when the hook finishes its rotation and releases the thread, the thread loop doesnt make it all the way around the bobbin case......it...

the catcher/hook on the bobbin case system loosen or not fix properly probably becoz of vibration or something( check or replace new), then check upper system either tension/ tighten of your thread/yarn or correct..

Bobbin thread

You may have bent the needle, replace that first.
Have you wound a new bobbin? Sometimes they wind poorly.
Check the hook race for thread "nests". (Bobbin casing)

Consew 226 breaking needles

I posted an answer to this a couple days ago. If the hook's hitting the needle you need to move it away from the needle. There's a small screw in the bottom of the machine that holds the hook mechanism in place. You need to loosen the screw and gently tap the assembly away from the needle. The hook should just pick up the looped thread as the needle bar rises. You can go to www.consew.com and download a pdf file showing the parts of the machine, also an owners manual. You have to click on the 224 machine. The manual's the same for 224, 225, 226. Or you can click on the 226R-3 - that's the same, too.
