Thanks, incoming wires were from each speaker in dining room & deck area. I've played around as you say and established "green" is positive and " white" negative. I also replaced 2 fuses in the Amp which was part of the problem. Now the system is working fine and we are back jiving !
Thank you for replying and putting me in the right direction.

Incoming from WHAT? Ampifiers accept inputs via RCA connections and send amplified audio to the speakers via the + and - OUTPUT terminals.

I'm guessing your colored wires are from your speakers and that there is a piece of this puzzle we do not see - how the speakers on the deck and in the dining area are wired.

You say, "was working ok previously"... previous to WHAT? Something changed.

You can probably troubleshoot and resolve this yourself.

Set the amp to a medium output level.

If the wires are simply leading to either or both pairs of speakers you could select any two of them and connect them to one side of the amp. Only a pair going to the same speaker(s) will produce sound. Once you identify one pair, the other pair probably goes to the other speakers. Connect them to the other channel output.

The last piece would be to establish correct phasing between the speakers. Bass response will suffer if they're not IN-phase. Play something with substantial bass. Listen closely, then reverse the wires on one side only. Test again. If it IMPROVES you have it right. If it losses bass, put the wires back the way they were.

How to connect my Bose 901 series vI speaker to yamaha rx v740 and rotel rb 1582. Appreciate your help. Thanks

The Bose controller gets wired in series between the pre-amp and the power amp.

I presume you plan to use the 901's as the front L&R pair. So the cables going from the 740's Pre-Out Front L&R go to the inputs on the Bose controller. The outputs of the Bose controller go to the power amp Front L&R channel inputs.

Getting no sound hooked up to pre-amp and 2 rotel 200w amps with snell speakers

You didn't say whether the player is connected by 2 RCA cables (analog) or by digital cable. If by RCA, does the player have a headphone jack? I had a player once with a piece of a headphone that broke off inside the jack, muting the analog outputs.

I have no sound coming from my amp a rotel rb 981 and rc 980bx . I was changing speaker wires and am afraid i have blown a fuse [but cannot find external one]. powers up but no sound

it is never advised to change wires while the amp is switched on. you may have blown your diodes on your post amp then you have a problem.
have you tried other speakers tested your speaker on another system to rule them out as OK?
if you open the case be careful not to touch any large capacitor as they may still be chared and can give you a nasty belt.
any fuses should be easy to find and to see if they are blown. ensure you get the same rate fuse when you replace. if you see any charing of diodes then i think repair may be costly. good luck.

Rotel PReamp, Can I directly Connect my powered speakers to the output

Hi,

Based on your post, the pre-amp is doing its job. What might be the mismatch would be the powered speaker system plugged into the output of the Rotel. Depending on what the "powered speaker system" is, it might be that it is a low impedance such as those used in computers whereas the Rotel requires high impedance to be connected to its output. What could be tried is to connect a regular amp or receiver to the Rotel.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
