INSTRUCTION TO INSTALL BULB IN KDF-E42A10. I AM NOT ABLE TO TAKE OUT THE HOUSING TO INSTALL THE BULB IN IT. I NEED STEP TO STEP INSTRUCTION TO SOLVE MY PROBLEM

SOURCE: replaced bulb in a kdf-e42a10 and worked for about 8 hours

3 times red light blinks shows that Lamp Cover is Open. Please put back lamp cover properly.
I would recommend to always replace with Original Sony Lamp and avoid aftermarket or compatible lamps.

Ok, you can buy the bulb separately and it will save you money. I will have to warn that , installing this bare bulb will be tricky and you can not touch this bulb with your bare hands. it will damage it. Other than that, it is possible to purchase the bare bulb alone. i will post a link to your replacement bulb without the housing below.

If you get just lamp without housing be very carefull you do not put your fringers on Lamp it will leave print and burn into lamp wear plastic gloves to replace this way

there are three fans . the one u cant see is above the lamp housing. u need to pull all the plastic
housing of to access to clean.

CHANGED THE BULB IN KDF E42A10 AND NOW THE COLOR IS ALL OFF, UNIT WAS UNPLUGGED FOR SEVERAL HOUR WHILE WAITING FOR BULB


Step by Step of what you should do: 1) Get into your car 2) Procced to nearest BestBuy store. 3) (This is where its gets tricky) Ask an Employee where the tvs are. 4) Find the televison of your liking and purchase it. Hope this helps

When i turn my tv on,after like half minutes tv turn off by self than starting turning on and off every half minutes....do you think is bulb problem or something als?thx


Symptom shows it is bulb problem that needs to be replaced too solve tv issue.
Existing lamp/ bulb in tv has reached an end of its working life span but still not dead/ broken and causing this problem.
Buy Sony original lamp for good picture and replace it.

For KDF-E42A10 When picture is black, a bluish fadded spot appears in the center of screen. When picture is white, a yellowish fadded spot appears in the center. Do I just replace the bulb?


no this is a problem with your Optical block your LCD chips have gone bad you need to replace this part to fix this issue the bulb will not solve this kind of issue

No Picture on Screen


Hi,

They might be a problem with the video section(video card)this is where picture is generated and need to be checked there is a possibilty of a chip getting or has a leak .
The bulb gets voltage from this card so pls check it .

Instructions on replacing the bulb not the housing


It's not too bad to replace just the bulb but rather more difficult to find just the bulb on it's own. The guys at lumenarc.co.uk should be able to give you just the bulb. As a start, you might want to have a look at this video:

Red and Green Lines in TV


The optics block has failed and it will have to be replaced. Contact Sony for an auth. service center in your area as the optics block in this unit has a 2 year mnfg. warranty.
