Question about HP Compaq Presario SR2150NX PC Desktop
It can be intimidating when looking at a huge mass of wires and stuff, but not to worry, it may be a little time consuming, but is is all logical.
First set the monitor on the desk and plug it in to the wall. then take the second cable that has a million little prongs sticking out of the retangular plug and hang it to where the Case is going to sit. Put the case where you want it close to or on the desk. look at the back of the case, the cable that is coming from the monitor can only fit 1 socket in the back of the pc.
Now, 10% done!!! that wasn't hard!
Now put the mouse and keyboard on the desk and thread the cords through the back of the desk to the pc. Usually, the pc has two sockets right next to each other right on the top of the case in back, that are round and the size of a dime. That is where the keyboard and mouse plug in. Look at the back of the pc for color coding of plug color to socket color or look for pictures of which cable goes in which socket.
Ok, now find the big thick black cable that plugs into the wall and ends in a big thick square. Plug it into the power supply of the pc. It only fits one place.
Plug it into the wall now.
Now all you should have is speakers and a printer.
Look at the speakers, Depending if they are standard, or 5.1 dolby surround, they either have 1 or 3 plugs that go into the pc. Plug the speakers into the wall, then look at the back of the pc for 3 small holes. one should be labled, speakers. There is line in and microphone as well. plug in the speakers...... ,
Ok, printer, funky thick plug, or usb cable..... Either one, look at the back of the pc, it only goes in one spot!!
Now, you need to plug in the internet stuff. plug the router to the walll, connect to phone line or cable, then plug in the cable that looks like a big (usually yellow) phone cable. Plug it into the network card plug on the back of the pc.
Surf, have fun.
PLEASE VOTE 4 THUMBS FOR ME!!!!!!
Good luck and have fun.

The designation - Compaq Presario 6000 is a generic one.
Look on the back of the computer in the white Service Tag, for the actual Product Number (P/N)
However I believe this generic Quick Setup Guide will lead you through connecting the Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse, and Speakers.
On this page left-click on - Quick Setup - Presario 6000 Series
Allow the PDF file to fully download, before looking through it.
There is a way to download this guide to the computer you are using, so that it can be burned to CD disk, and used where ever you like. If you wish to do this just state so in a Comment.
Tell me which model of 2Wire router you have. It sounds like it is one of the HomePortal 1800HG series. May be newer, and one of the 2701HG-B series.
Do you have DSL? Is it through the phone company, or cable.
Usually cable internet providers will have a tech install the correct filters into your outside phone line, then come inside with you present, and setup your internet connection.
Phone DSL providers provide a CD Installation disk.
As soon as the computer is ready to operate, powered on, and Windows loaded, the Installation disk should be put in the optical drive.
The disk will have instructions on when, and how, to hook up the various components for internet.
(Filter, router, Ethernet cable, phone line, etc)
