it is a Minolta 2400W model and it is a on/off rocker type switch. even without the computer started I can turn the printer on it blinks ready and then after about 5 seconds the error light starts to blink (just the error light the ready light has ceased)

  • donato911 Apr 28, 2010

thanks, but, "it says there is a paper jam, but there is" no paper there. a piece of paper actually had jammed a one point but since then it has said this. and when I took the peice of paper out it wasn't really caught or stuck in there, I just lifted the lid and removed the page. it wasn't like I had to tug on it or anything hard. no when you turn the printer on it blinks ready and then changes to the error light blinking after about 5 seconds. if I am on Window, it gives me the paper jam error message. I just haven't been able to get around it. I have looked inside intently with light looking.

Thanks for the detailed sketch on the innards of my printer. I got in there AGAIN just to look for that piece of paper I didn't find the last couple of times. I thought maybe it was in that fuser unit or something. I took it outside and went though the paper path and took canned air to clean off any dirt as well. I am not seeing any paper. Like I said, the piece of paper really wasn't caught to begin with. I don't think it is a paper path problem here. But, it keeps erroring to that. What could it be.

  • donato911 May 04, 2010

Thanks for the detailed update. I went back and looked at a couple of the things you mentioned here in the update. The 2400W has a resident utility that gives the status of the printer. There isn't anyway to restore to defaults though I did reinstall the utility so I could take a look at it. The printer is giving an error at the printer with the lights. The message it is saying is paper jam at transfer roller. But I have been looking and looking there but, I don't see it. And I am not seeing a Reset (which is what I wish I could do) in that manual you so graciously provided.

    Still frustrated with it,

    Tony

  • donato911 May 04, 2010

I am not seeing a Reset (though I wish I could reset the printer somehow to get around this "false" message) in this manual you so graciously provided.

The error the Windows utility is giving is paper jam at transfer roller.

Of course I have been looking and looking for any fragment inside the printer but nothing found.

    Thanks so much,

    Tony

Remove the paper tray and check the inside where the paper tray came out. You may find a paper slightly inserted in the roller and ready to be feed. The paper you are looking for is NOT crinkled and sometimes perfectly aligned to the top part of the paper tray cabinet making it hard to see.

You may need to go deeper in your checking as there may still be paper inside printer causing the message to appear.

check the printer path shown below

it says there is a printer jam, but there is - b7ff3e3.jpg

now review how to clear internal paper jams and post back your findings

how are you feeding the paper, are you sure the paper is paper that your printer will work with? I found that in this printers if you're loading paper that does not correspond to the paper tray paper size setting it will give you this error, even if the actual paper being feed to the printer is the proper size, review the paper size setting for the tray in question.

also do the following after checking the paper tray paper size configuration

    1. Take the
paper tray out of the printer.

    2. Put letter paper into the tray.

    3. Ensure that plastic guides on either side of the paper and on
the end are secure around the edges of the paper (should be a tight
    fit).

    4. Put the paper tray back into the printer.

    5. Reboot the printer (wait 30 seconds before turning printer
    back on) and test!

lastly, attempt to restore the printer to default settings

I suggested that, if possible, you print a configuration page before following the instructions below, so that you can have a hard copy printout of the printer's settings in case you want to change anything back after restoring defaults.

    1. Printer panel should readIDLE .

    2. Press MENU/SELECT button.

    3. Press the Right Arrow until you see SYSTEM DEFAULT.

    4. Press MENU/SELECT button.

    5. Press the Right Arrow until you see RESTORE/SAVE.

    6. Press MENU/SELECT button.

    7. Press the Right Arrow until you see RESTORE FACTORY, SAVE CUSTOM OR RESTORE CUSTOM.

RESTORE FACTORY - If YES is selected, all menu items are reset to their initial settings. SAVE CUSTOM - If YES is selected, all changes are saved. RESTORE CUSTOM - If YES is selected, the menu items the previously saved settings.

    8. You may be prompted 'Are you sure?'. To indicate that you are sure, press the MENU/SELECT button. If you are NOT sure, then press the CANCEL button.

    9. proceed to reboot your printer and test.

if this does not work, you may have a hardware problem (assuming that you did a throughral internal inspection of the paper path that cause the printer to have this problem) if not proceed accordingly!.

    good luck!

Hi
folow the below steps
1. 1
Switch off the printer and disconnect the power supply. Allow any residual charge to fade away before putting your hands or metal tools inside the chassis.
2. Step 2
Pin down the exact location of the jam. The three hot spots for a jam are the paper tray, anywhere between the feed tray and the print carriage, or between the print carriage and the output tray.
3. Step 3
Take off the front paper tray if the sheet got stuck while it was still in the front area of the printer. If the sheet jammed here, you should be able to see most of the paper.
4. Step 4
Pull on the sheet with both hands and steady pressure. Do not tug as you might rip the paper, leaving a chunk of it deeper in the machine.
5. Step 5
Open the back panel to reach paper jammed between the feed tray area and the print carriage of the all-in-one printer. Carefully remove the jammed paper from the machine.
6. Step 6
Use the carriage access door to reach a jam further inside the all-in-one printer. You may need to move the print carriage out of your way to clear the jam.
7. Step 7
Return any access panels to their closed and locked positions. Plug your printer back in and flip the power switch.

Hi! Please try this. Unplug the unit from power source then press the power button for like 30secs while unplugged. Plug the unit again to power source then turn it on. This should reset the printer's system and you may get rid of your paper jam issue. Hope this helps and have a good one!

Hi! This may be related to the toner/cartridge which is about to go off. It can restrict the printer to print and may not give you a NO INK message but a PAPER JAM instead. Please have a good look at the cartridges if they are full or some may need to be replaced.

I have a Workforce WF-2530 printer. When I turn it on, after a few moments it simple says PRINTER ERROR. SEE YOUR DOCUMENTATION." The MENU button does nothing. Holding RESUME and turning printer on

Does your computer have any further information when it's connected? "Printer Error" sounds pretty generic, not a lot of detail to tell you where to look.
I would open the ink loading hatch, and check that there's nothing jammed in there, that all your ink carts are fully seated.
If nothing there, head for the back of the printer, pull the paper-handling tray out, and see if there's paper jammed in there. replace.
Pull out paper tray, make sure there is paper there, and that there's nothing jammed in there too.
When you turn it on, is there any sound, like the printer head moving back and forth?
I have a similar printer, and the error messages I see are rather more informative. . .

Make sure that there isn't any debris covering a sensor or any little bits of paper left over from a former paper jam in the printer.

Paper jam

when that happens it's one of two things, or your printer needs your Manteinance Kit to be Replaced or it's an Issue related to a sensor that's under the toner cartdrige when that sensor it's dirty, it got stuck and make the machine thinks it has a jam when obviously there's nothing there hope that i could help

When i send a print nothing happens. I opened the lid to check for a jam. nothing. but when i closed it the screen on mu printer says carriage jam.....

Sounds like the "deadly embrace" problem...

Computer says to itself "waiting on printer status"
Printer says to itself "waiting on computer status"
Results....nothing.

Try this:
1. Shutdown (using the normal operating system shutdown) the computer.
2. Turn off and unplug both the computer AND the printer at the same time.
3. Plug the printer back in first (and if necessary, turn it on) THEN
4. Plug in the computer and allow it to start normally.

Now try a print.
Let me know if this works for you.
