Two main reasons breaker trips is the pump motor jammed [not turning]or the heater shorted out --disconnect power open access panel disconnect the lines to the heater turn on power if breaker trips than motor /pump problem if doesnt trip than heater problem can order heater replacement online or pool spa store--if motor pump check pump for debris and motor for lube if u can turn shaft or impeller oil motor and work it into bearings if still not turning possible need to replace motor unit

I have a spa berry 2 person hot tub. Tried resetting it but as soon as I let go of the reset button it trips the breaker. Can't get it to stay on. Tub is 4 yrs old. Where do we start?

Melisa, Breaker/GFI may be going bad. You may have to get an electrician to check for short or faulty motor/heater, etc. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

I have a leisure rite spa and it has been off a while on putting it back on Pr appears on the panel then as the cycle starts it shuts down and trips the house electrics can you help ?

Pr means it is going to ru a 4-6 minute course of non-operation, to "Prime" the system.
Then the spa will start up and run normally.
after a short time, ensuring all air is purged from the system, Heater will then come on.

if your breaker trips immediately after the priming mode is complete, then your pump is suspect of failure.

Tripping circuit breaker

Hi Kathy
Sometimes when a breaker keeps tripping, it will wear and will be in need of replacement...try replacing the breaker and see if that solves your problem.
If not then check the amps on the pump and make sure the breaker is able to hand the amperage the pump is requiring.

Breaker for hot tub keeps tripping

Leaking heat element.
2 GFCI on same circuit.
Rat-chewed wire. Inspect wiring.
Nail through wire.
Melted wire nut in junction box.
Undersized wire and breaker has been overheating breaker, and breaker has gone bad.
Shorted breaker. Move wires to different same-size breaker.

gfci's are designed to trip if they receive voltage on there ground/neutral side, therefore my vote is for Smithbrother I would say there is probably a partial short somewhere in you system.

115 volt 20 amp breaker for hot tub keeps tripping

Is there anything else on the same breaker? Is that the proper amperage for the pump? How long has the pump been in service? It may need to be cleaned as possible obstruction causing too much strain.
