Cover on brother p-touch model PT-300 won't

Question edited for clarity and add maker.
There are many models under the P-Touch brand, so generic answers only but in 90% of cases it is an incorrectly seated cartridge..

I once had a problem and solved it by opening the printer, pushing on parts wherever I could. When I had closed the label printer, it miraculously worked again! By doing so I may have have removed dust or cleaned contacts, which might have gone bad or eroded, like the volume control of a guitar.

Read Below Instruction,

1Turn off the label maker before installing the tape.
2Press the part marked as "<<" and lift the cassette cover.
3 Position the tape into the slot. Make sure to feed the end of the tape under the tape guides.
4Check that the lever is up before closing the cover; the cover will not close if the lever is pressed down.
5Close the cassette cover.
6 Press the power key to turn on the device. If using an AC adapter, plug the adapter into the wall then press the power key.
7Type a sample to test if your installation was successful.

Replace the "Toner Sensor PCB Assy" model # LJ9935001. It is located in the left side panel which is easily removed (2 screws).

"I have solved my own problem, I have a second identical printer that just developed the same problem, so this seems like a common problem. The solution was to replace the "toner sensor pcb assy" model # lj9935001. It is located in the left side panel which is easily removed (2 screws), I had it replaced in half an hour and that was the first time. It clips in ,the wire needs threading a little then then connector . if you take your time and think it through it is easy then turn it on and presto nothing but green status light. costs $18.50 with shipping ground. Contact Brother 901-379-1000, get customer service and ask for parts dept. Best of luck."

I found the the Toner Sensor PCB Assy" model # LJ9935001 for $9.89 just by searching through Google and Amazon, so shop around, $18.50 is expensive when you can buy a gently used PT-65 on ebay for $10 - $25.

You can go to brother-usa.com and click on the "support" tab, then scroll down a little and you will see "manuals". Click on that and enter the model # and you should be able to download the manual.

is the actual model is Brother PT 1280 .. it';s a labeling p-touch..if yes..then you can download the user manual here...

Once you snap in the catridge you have to put the back of the p-touch back on. After that you can feed through the tape by pressing Code Space. If the back of your P-touch is not on it will not advance through.... I learned the hard way :) Hope it helps you all.
