Hi,
The compressor is not starting...these tips will help you with that...
Try change the start components....potential relay and start capacitor...if that don't work it is the compressor going bad...

My fridge is do power surges every 5 min or so where the light in the kitchen dim . Inside tempetures are going up .

Sounds like your compressor has locked up and the clixon is turning the power on and off accounting for the dimming of local lights and the overheating of the stuck compressor and rising internal frig temps.

Unplug it!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get someone in there to replace compressor.

Freezer not running at all

You will need a meter. I wouldn't worry too much about the light unless you realy need it. There is a good chance some moisture has got into the connection and ruined the switch. But if you have no light and no compressor running I would have to check where the main connections are for power to the freezer. If you have power to the receiving end of thempower cord then I would move to the t-stat to see if the contacts are closing when you turn it colder. If they do and you have power through the t-stat then move to the compressor. Pull the little black cover off of the compressor when the power is off for safety reasons, then plug it in and check for incoming power to the compressor. If it is there then you may have a faulty compressor or overload or relay. But that is a slim to nun chance. Probubally the compressor. To check the compressor pull all of the wires off of the compressor remembering where they go( unplug freezer first). Then use the ohm meter and chech across all three terminals. Two terminals will have a low ohm reading 1-5. Then the other will be 5-10 the the last will add up the the others if it woes not then the compressor is shot.

good luck

No electrical power to AC Compressor. The switch light comes on in car when AC power button is turned on.

  1. Check if air blows with the fan setting turned to high.
  2. Check that the radiator cooling fan engages when the A/C button is pressed.
  3. Locate the compressor.
  4. Turn on the A/C.
  5. Check if the compressor's clutch has been engaged.
  6. If the clutch engages, the fault is elsewhere.
  7. If the clutch does not engage, check for power to the clutch.
These steps might help find the problem.

A/C compressor doesn't engage

Have you checked the thermal protector switch on the compressor? If you probe the wire with a test light and the compressor comes on replace the switch.

Compressor not coming on check red wire on compressor with test light compressor comes on pressure good high and low air cold

If the compressor came on when you were testing it with a test light, it sounds like something is wrong with your ground for your compressor, and completely the circuit through your test light.

I have a Amana Model ARS2365a, lights come on but compressor does not come on when lights turn off

lights do not have any thing to do with the compressor . but if lights go ( like the power has failed ) then look for loose plug at wall or bad wall rec . light should run independent of compressor . but no lights no compressor . also may be a bad power cord ..

The unit turns on, but the mode light (cool and fan) blinks and the compressor does not seem to turn on The fan works normally as does the sweep function.

possible bad capicitor/compressor-comp. start relay. placing a voltage sniffer at wires going to comp. will verify if compressor is getting power.

42" Built-in Monogram Refrigerator just lost power.

Check the Compressor starter. This is a black box on the top of the compressor. See if it is getting any power, also with a flash light you will be able to see if it is burnt it looks like a BIG fuse. If it is popped you will need to replace it then all will work ok after that

Refrigerator not cooling.

Can you turn the compressor by hand? Did you clean the area around the motors with a vacuum and blown out the armature of the motor? What connects the motor to the compressor? Are there lub ports on the drive motor?
