http://www.opendrivers.com/driver/258452/powerspec-v201-realtek-audio-sound-driver-5.10.0.5288-windows-xp-free-download.html

You need to click the link on this webpage near bottom to go to download. Let me know if this does the trick. It definitely sounds like an XP issue.

Strange sound issue

This isn't a driver issue. In your hardware profile your system's sounds have been disabled. Its part of the performance settings that exist. My suggestion is update to XP SP3 (which can be downloaded), then follow these instructions that Microsoft offers: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307918 and if push comes to shove speak to Microsoft's live chat assistance for free, they should be able to guide you through fixing the settings.

NO Sound - 865PE Neo2-PFS Platinum Edition

You need to install the correct version of the sound drivers from the MSI website under your motherboard type. Third party or from Realtek sound drivers won't make you sound chip works. If after installing sound drivers from MSI website still don't work then your on board sound chip colud be defective.
