Everything was working fine - then the print began to get lighter and then no print at all. I have tried reinserting the print wheel and adjusting the ribbon to no avail.

Can anyone help?

There is a hammer in the print head that hits the leaf of the print wheel that is selected - by virtue of your description that it sounds normal but doesnt leave an image it sounds like the hammer (actually a solenoid driving a pin out) is sticking or worn too short. Take off the print wheel so you can see the pin/hammer and first try to carefully put one drop of a light machine oil such as sewing machine oil where the pin comes out, you want the oil to go between the pin and the area it slides in and out of. Put the wheel back on and hold a key down to make it do a full line repeat and see if that helps. It might be nothing at first then come in light then darken. If no change you might start looking for a shop that repairs typewriters. Many office machine shops, though they may not advertise typewriters openly, still repair them. I do, but not as many as I used to. Also it might be time to look around such as on eBay for a working replacement if the oil doesnt work and repair is too costly.

Try typing on a mulipart form. If it types on the copies and not the orinonal the ribbon is the problem. If it dosen't type on the copies then the plastic cap on the print solenoid is broken.

We sell the cap with installation instructions for 20.00 includes shipping.

Put in a mulit part form, if it prints on the copies the ribbon isn't lifting, if it dosen't the plastic cap on the print solenoid needs replaced.
