I think the problem is not dealing with your camera. It is dealing with your computer. Would you please clarify the situation?

Does your USB port work? To clarify this, Right click My Computer and look if there is a problem with signed " ! " in the device manager. If there is a problem with your USB port then correct it first. Did you restart your PC? Generally this solves the problem. Did you install the the driver correctly? Please uninstall it and install again. If you have controlled these. Please give some additional information.

Try using a card reader instead of your camera.

After a computer crash I've lost the driver for Canon Powershot SD780. Where can I download it?

You can download Canon software from
www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/digital_cameras/powershot_sd_series/powershot_sd780_is

You might want to consider NOT using a driver. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Canon ZoomBrowser or any other photo cataloging program.

The IXUS 100 is called the SD780 in some parts of the world. You can download software for the SD780 from the manufacturer's web site at
