Onkyo TX-DS777 does not retain settings after power loss

Onkyo TX-DS777 AV receiver does not retain settings after power loss. This AV receiver will lose all of its settings after a brief power loss. Seems like it needs a new back-up battery.

    Hi the unit would have to be taken to an authorized service center for repair. You can locate an authorized service center at the following link,http://www.onkyousa.com/Support/servicec... Also if you are looking to trade out of the unit please email me the units serial number located on the back of the unit so that I can advise you if you qualify. How the trade in would work is that we would take your unit back and sell you a reconditioned unit with a one year parts and labor warranty at a discount. You can email me at askOnkyo@us.onkyo.com, thanks, JT

No internal battery, a large "SuperCap" on the main board acts as one. Look for C8007, 0.1 F, 5.5V.

It most likely does need a large cap which does this battery back up function. Look for a value like 0.047f at around 5volts. located either on front panel or control board. Larry's Electronics. ledstiles@hotmail.com

Onky TX-DS777, no sound from speakers

Are the speakers selected for A or B or AB check the speakers by using a 1.5 volt batter on the cable going to the speakers, if you get a sound from the speaker, you know they are ok, if not, speakers are faulty.

Sound from Onkyo CD player well and fine. Then connected the Samsung DVD HT-Z310 to Video3 (L/R audio in, V-in from L/R Audio out and V-out of Samsung) but no sound or nor video on TV? Tried to fix it...

What am I missing here?

There are a lot of models mentioned in this post. What are WE discussing?

* A Samsung HT-Z310 is a Home Theater System.

* An Onkyo TX-DS777 is higher-end AV Receiver that DOES have a Video 3 input which accepts composite video and analog audio.

* An Onkyo CD player is irrelevant to the TV sound in any scenario.

* Unnamed TV.

I don't see any path in your narrative that would carry audio TO the TV. Is there an unmentioned HDMI cable in here somewhere? I see no other audio outputs on the HTZ.

Are you running the HT-Z310 through an Onkyo receiver to somewhere (?) else?

Register and download the manual for free at retrevo.com

The fewer hops and inteconnects a given signal experiences between its source and your senses, the better. I always run the BEST video from any source to the TV first; the best Audio to the BEST audio electronics. If that helps.

My Onkyo TX-DS777 lost power. I believe this to be a blown fust, but am uncertain, any thoughts?

It seems like the internal fuse to me, too. But you could check to make sure that the receptacle works (maybe you've got a tripped breaker).
The manual also suggests unplugging and re-plugging the unit to clear "external noise" from the "computer circuits," but something tells me that you've already tried that.

Power problem

Danny,

It may only need to be reset, unplug it for a min. plug it back in and try it.
Check your owners manual some will tell you how to reset them.

Also check for a jammed switch, press every switch one by one if one doesn't move that is the problem, you can possibly unjam it with a small screwdriver.

But it could need servicing.
