Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console
I just bought a new (refurbished) PS3. I have bought two new games for it, Assassins Creed II and Army of Two. Neither game worked at all, the console would not even recognize them. I realized this is because the software version I had was 2.65, and the newest version released was 3.30, and in the users manual it said without the proper version, I may not be able to play some games. Due to where I am, I cannot connect my PS3 to the internet, I have to take my laptop about 1/4 of a mile to find the connection. So I went to Sony's website and downloaded the latest version on to a 4GB flash drive, saved it in the correct folders (PS3/UPDATE) and went back to my PS3. I began the system update using the media device option and everything was going smooth. When the installation started it came up with an error: 80010006. It told me to power off and try again, which I did. On start-up, it went straight to the installation and began to try again. The error came back up at 39%, and continued to do this every subsequent time that I tried. I have tried allowing it to continue the install both with and without the flash drive in and the same error always occurs. I have searched the internet for a possible fix in vain, and seeing as how I can't get around the install when I turn it on, I don't know what else I can do. Because of where I am I can only call Sony from work, where I do not have a TV or unsecure internet connection meaning I can't recieve support at the same time I can use my PS3. Also, sending it back isn't an option... I bought the system on Ebay from a company that doesn't ship to my address, meaning I had to originally have it shipped to my apartment back in the states, then forwarded to my address here.

if no games load or play back up your save data and try a system restore if that doesn't work u need to call sony if under warranty and they ill probably send u another ps3 within 7 days if not under warranty check out this link

my copy of assasins creed would not load either so i got a replacment copy of the game which did not work either, got in contact with the store i got it from and they tell me that they have had a lot of the same complaints and there seems to be a problem on the 40gb version of the ps3 and it is unable to play this game, not really willing to part with 300 quid for a console that decides to play some games and not others so i think i'll be taking my ps3 back and getting a refund or maybe an xbox360.
