posted by teden20 on Mar 24, 2008

kenwood kr-7600 with no sound output. i plugged an elect. gtr. into the mic input that is for 'singing' along with a tape. then, i played for a bit. i took it out, and stopped using that function. i turned off the unit. now i can get no sound from either channel. the lights are on and it seems to be functioning am/fm, etc. just no sound output thru speakers. checked spkrs, etc.

Does the gtr still work on the unit? The mic jack may be bad / dirty and not routing regular audio. Try plugging the gtr cord in and out a few times. Or inspect the jack itself for tarnish, bad solder joints. Fine sand paper can be used to clean the contacts on the jack, if it's not a sealed jack.

Hope that helps...
