Optus usb stick wireless broadband....after 25mins. on the 13.... number to Optus on my moblie (read $30 phone call) the well spoken Indian consultant admitted he could not help me any more...there was 'something' wrong with my Dell XPS or Vista....nothing unusual there.

I seem to have found a 'work around'.

    1) boot the system without the usb

    2) open Optus Wireless connection box (do not click anything)

    3) go to Settings>Network connections>double click Optus-Huawei 3G DO NOT click anything else.

    4) Plug in the usb....watch it change from green flashes to blue.....as soon as it flashes blue PRESS 'connect' in step 3.

This works for me until I get home (1200kms away) then I'll sort 'em out!

    Cheers, driver33b

I have a contract with optus and I want my mobile which is with Vodophone transferred to my account with optus.

The phone you have must be either fully paid by you or you must have paid up your 2 year contract on that phone.

You need to give Vodaphone one months notice of termination of contract. Or you can carry on paying it without using the service.

Then you tell Optus you want your current phone putting on their network. You will need to give them your phone number and your phone's IMEI number. They will send you a new SIM card, or you can do it all in a shop if they have one.

Need to know how to make a specific phone number go to a new phone we just started using again. we have three different companies and only one phone number will go to that phone.

The SIM card in the new phone is paired with a cell phone provider. Whatever the provider (AT&T? Verizon? Cricket? T-Mobile?) setup on the SIM card, that is the phone number that will be active. You can only have one SIM card active in a phone at one time. You can only have one phone number active on a SIM card.

You can setup a forwarding service like Google Voice to forward calls to another number. Each physical phone needs it's own SIM card ad phone number. You can't share phone numbers between cell phones.

I have lenovo G560 laptop.in this laptop i saw sim card slot under the battery so how can i use it

The SIM card is for mobile broadband (wireless internet anywhere you have cellphone service).
Before using Mobile Broadband, you first need to choose a mobile networkoperator (such as Sprint, Verizon, AT&T, T-mobile, etc.) and make sure you are in the coverage area of the network.
After that, you also need:• To activate the Mobile Broadband service through your local mobile network operator. Youwill get a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card after activation.

My E63 has been blocked by the Optus network...how do i un block it

Your handset can become fully locked due to exceeding the number of attempts to enter the correct unlock code. The type of handset you have will determine what process to follow to see if the handset can be unlocked. If your handset appears with a Code Error or does not unlock with the first or second attempt, you will need to call Customer Service to confirm the code. Once the handset is fully locked it will require manually unlocking from Optus and your handset will need to be sent away.

1 Insert SIM
N.B. Can be unlocked with SIM removed from handset however there is a 5 second time limit 2 Power phone on 3 Type: #pw+15 digit code+1 (where '15 digit code' is the unlock code) 4 Press Hash (#) - SIM Restriction OFF will display on screen for one second
Troubleshooting:
  • If the unlock code is incorrect the phone will display the message 'Code Error'
  • If the user tries to unlock a phone which does not have SIM Lock activated the phone will display the message 'SIM was not restricted'
  • If the syntax (#pw+) is incorrect when entering the unlock code - nothing will happen.

My optus broardband sim thats for wireless networks i puk coded it and want it unlocked

Hi gem3830,
Regarding your Sim from Optus I believe that you will need to call Optus to obtain the PUK code, unless you still have the card where the Sim card was removed from. it will have a PUK at the back which you will just need to rub off to get your PUK.
You can try 1234, but if this does not work you will really need to call Optus since they would know better how to get the PUK for your Sim if we try entering a PUK code several times that we are not sure of, we may disable or damage the Sim card more. Call Optus for further details regarding the PUK.
I hope that this will be of help to your query, have a nice day.

What sim card in New Zealand can text to Seychelles services Cable and wireless and Airtel

It is my understanding that any card should be able to send text to those services as they are all routed through British telecom.
Any Telstra/Optus shop should be also be able to confirm this.

No activity on my new speedstream 4200

Ethernet and DSL lights are indicating you have ADSL available on your line, and that you have computers connected to the router.

What has probably happened is that Optus did not set up the new router with your username and password. Go to thw following website for details on how to setup the modem.

http://help.optuszoo.com.au/help/dsl/connected/windows/optus_modems/speedstream_4200

Manual Modem Settings The Optus DSL Broadband self-installation CD configures all the necessary settings for your DSL Broadband service. You do not need to manually configure your modem if you have run the self-installation CD. While the following information is provided for your reference, using the self-installation CD is the recommended method for configuring your modem.
The Siemens SpeedStream 4200 ADSL modem can use either USB or Ethernet to connect to your computer.
  • If you are connecting via USB you will need to run the self-installation CD to install the USB driver before you connect your modem. The Siemens SpeedStream 4200 ADSL modem supplied by Optus has been customised for the Optus DSL Broadband service. Only the USB driver supplied on the self-installation CD will work with the Optus service. If you do not have the self-installation CD, you can download the latest drivers from the Siemens website.
  • If you are connecting via Ethernet it is possible to manually configure your modem without the self-installation CD. Only a web browser is required.
After connecting your modem there are two key steps to manually configure your modem for the Optus DSL Broadband service:
  • PC settings - Configure your computer's Ethernet network interface.
  • Configure Your Modem - Set the password in your modem's configuration pages.

PC Settings Step by step instructions are provided for each of the supported Windows operating systems:

Reconfigure wireless card

I believe he's wrong. But the wireless card which only does B needs to match the router which could be A,B, or G. And B has some serious range limitations. You also need to manually address the card or the router has to be configured for DHCP. Get past those issues and it should setup normally.

It sounds like the device is still locked to the original wireless carrier. What you need to do is have the device unlocked (if it is a GSM BlackBerry) so that it will work with other carriers. There are several vendors that provide cell phone unlocking services. I recommend checking out HorizonWirelessOnline.com.
