    hydrochick,

I got surprised why you rate my solution 'Inappropriate'. You know we are giving free solution with our best effort to help you.

This solution was for the LAN card driver asked by a user (ATAPIA) and if you have problem for the same LAN card you can get the driver from the given link.

Anyways its not fair to rate any one's solution in minus rating. If you have any problem just ask me, i will try to suggesst you with my full effort.

    Thanks

    Iqbal

I am sorry, I did not mean to upset you. I am new to all of this. I tried your solution and it did not work on my computer. The software install comes back saying there is no Lan hardware, yet I know there is physically one there.
I just rated it based on it not working for me. It was a great idea and I tried it.

No network connection for windows xp

Hello kenji, hi, it would really help if you could add more information about the no connection problem, anyway there are several reason why you have no connection;
  1. Bad Lan card, or built in lan port,
  2. Lan card device driver not properly installed, check your driver CD.
  3. loose lan cable. check using a lan cable tester device.
  4. bad router or router setup.
  5. bad dsl or modem setup.
  6. bad telephone connection. check also telephone cable.
  7. no internet service, call your ISP.
  8. if you are using a wireless lan card, check the device.
  9. bad Operating system installation.
  10. check your connectivity setup, is it enabled?
Go through each from one to ten, see which one is the fault.

I have a computer manufactured from ibuypower in california. It is a Fatality Version, Viper Model. I was attempting to install a new network card but some wires were in the way of installing the new...

I understand the problem but you'll need to follow the disconnected wires and find where within your case the other ends are connected too. It's my guess that the wires that have been disconnected run from your from the MB to your case. (Mostly)
To help you find the correct connections open you’re manual to page 2-3 section 2.2.3. If your network card is a PCI card, (White in color slot on the MB), than there are two PCI slots towards the bottom of the MB. There are plenty of wires at the bottom of the MB including the floppy drive data cable, three USB ports, Front panel connector, front audio connector and SPDIF_OUT connector. I suggest you download your manual from Asus. The reason I want you to download your manual is because you will be able to zoom in on the MB so you can see every little detail.
This will help you to see everything on the MB. Download the Asus manual by clicking on the link provided; http://www.asus.com/Search.aspx?SearchKey=P5n-d
You'll also need, Adobe Reader to view the Asus manual. If you do not have Adobe reader installed you can download it at; http://www.adobe.com/ by using the program Adobe, you will be able to zoom in on the layout page mentioned above. You will be able to see exactly where your disconnected wires need to be.
If you still have trouble you can email me at triptic12@yahoo.com

Cheers!
Mike

After check the web site for the manufacturer of your graphics card for a solution.

Network Card

Yes the network card is the same ethernet card. If your intel pro/100 is onboard try to re install the driver from the motherboard drvier. Check also in the manager device it the network device have a complex to the other device. Follow this, Click START then RUN type DEVMMGMT.MSC then enter check if the network adapter have a yellow question mark. If you found the network adapter right click and uninstall it.and click the ACTION and click SCAN FOR HARDWARE CHANGES. After the installation finished try to connect to the internet. If still the same even you input the correct ip in the network configuration. Buy a new LAN card it's not expensive, because usually the onboard lan is easy to damage or not working properly you can installed and configured it but you cannot connect to the internet.
