Re: how to format
What you can do is insert your card into a reader then go into windows explorer. Find the drive letter assigned to the new card. Right click on this drive letter and select FORMAT.
These are generic instructions on how to format any drive/card using the Windows interface.
If you're using the memory card in your camera, the best bet is to have the camera format it for you. Usually there's a menu selection that you can follow to the memory card, and one of the selections is to format.

First of all, you'd better recover all your files on usb. You can download a data recovery program, recommended asoftech data recovery as it helped me before. You can read more info about data recovery from http://www.asoftech.com/adr/
After you get back all your files, you can try to format the usb. First check whether the usb is locked, and then you can try a low level format.

Follow the steps mentioned there and ur pendrive will start working. Mine did.
well kaushal, it seems that the windows utility programs on ur pendrive has been corrupted thats why u r nt ablr to use it on any pc....
in this case u can do only one thing, try to connect ur pendrive in a pc running on a LINUX based PC.
coz LINUX does'nt require the windows utility programes... this is the only way out.
i hv also done it in past
I had the same problem, and I solved it by going to "My Computer", right-clicking the mp4 player, and clicking "Format...". The default paremeters were already preset, so I just clicked "Start" in the dialogue box. The paremeters were :
1.87 GB (prolly won't be exactly the same for everyone)
Allocation unit size:
I did not check "Quick Format"
Mine now works fine.
Note: I have Windows Vista, and I'm not exactly sure how the formatter will work on other OS's
actually u shold format it by the device in which u are going to use. eg camera. This will enable correct formating for usage of this device.
otherwise their is a standard Sd format and u can use that to format You can format the card by SD card Utility.SD utility is a format utility which is release from SD Association.
