Hi, I have a problem with my panasonic viera TH-50PX60U, the screen has turned green with vertical lines. I have tried all the imputs and on the digital imputs I get the green screen, with the analog imputs I only get a black screen.(sound works for all) Also I tried viewing pictures with the sd card reader and the pictures look fine there, the problem seems to be the video. Please help.

    I'm sorry,

I searched for decoder board and did not find anything that is why I did what I did.

I can probably open it myself and fix it.

What would be the best place to get the board from.

    Once again I'm sorry.

    Thanks

    It is a plasma,

Do you still think it is the H board?

  • neoaztek Apr 26, 2010

    • The screen remains green even when nothing is plugged into the TV. (Only on the digital inputs)

    • Menus show up fine on the screen. (volume, main menu channel, No channel Available etc..)

    • The tuner board has a solid red light. (Back of the tv where the coax pluggs in)

    • when I change the input with the remote and when I get back to the digital inputs the screen changes to different shapes (Lines)

    Thanks

Thank you so much for your help,

To tell you the truth I was thinking the same thing especially when the SD card reader works.

I will let you know what happened when I fix it.

    Thank you once again.

    Alex

    Hi,

I found 2 types of cards one the the H board the other is the DT board, The solid red light is on the DT board and not the H board.

Which one do you think has the problem?

The H board has the digital inputs the DT board has the coax input.

    Thanks

Sounds like a Decoder issue more common then not in these tv's, now the the sd card thing uses a different device to display so this does sound like a faulty decoder board in your unit. Now th best deal here is to ether do it yourself or bring it to a shop where it can be done certified.

Now keep in mind i have not looked at the tv personally I am just going off your words for a diagnosis. Now you might bring it to a shop and find something different and that is because there is a laundry list of things that can go wrong in these tv's/

I wish you good luck and hope you find my information Helpful. Please do contribute to the accept button for my efforts, Thanks

partsotre.com search by your model number there I am sure they have the H-board. Also you did not specify if it was a lcd or plasma I had to guess basied on your responce. but no problem i was using lamans terms for a H board that are found in plasmas and that can cause this issue.

once again sorry for using a lamans term for the board!!

I would love to have a look on what its doing but that is the most common problem with these are the H board.

I was also looking at a bulletin and this model has been found to have bad Panasonic 2SK3568 Transistor in them and this is why the part is bing sold out more often then not.

You got to think I am not there to diagnose your tv I wish I was but then the cost goes up because I am going to want to take care of the unit for you rather then do a consultation on it. So I only can give you whats on the bulletin and what other users have experienced when i fixed there units.

But the bottom line is I cannot say 100 percent (no one can over email) what caused you issue and what component is at fault but we can tell you the location of fault.

I hope you understand where I am coming from.

If you got a solid red light on tuner!! I would check the tuner board!!!

    thanks for that info!!!

that solid red light mens there was a fualt on that board. What? I do not know until i have a look. The H board is a board that buffers content from the tuner to the screen since the menus are working i would say look at the tuner for the problem area.

See when i get the whole picture here then i can give you more in depth area to look!!

My diagnosis would be tuner at this time until other symtoms prove otherwise and in saying that tis not going to be a cheap repair. Tuner boards on a estimate run $189-$250 depending on market value that day (just like memory chips) The labor is not too entensive but does coat $120 total in labor coat.

so the math is clear i would charge $345 out the door and fixed with a 3 months warranty. I am on here giving almost a free consult so you can choose where to take your problem or try and do it yourself.

This type of repair is not a end user repsir. (now i am not saying you cannot do it) its just a genral statment. With all eletronics you got to be safe. Plasma tv's hold a fatal charge at certain Rails.

    I hope this helps.

your correct as the SD card does not require TUNER!! and would rule out the buffer boards in some cases.

Good luck Alex I hope I did shed some light on some things. thanks for the accept and have a wonderful day!!

I would go for the DT board "digital tuner board" where the light is red!!

Panasonic Viera TH-42PV60H displays vertical lines on left side of screen.\r\nThese lines flickers and changes colors. Initially was about 2cm wide and now it is about 4cm.

Either LCD transistor got moist or the video chipset got condensation. Keep TV on standby to dry it out. Unless there is also mechanical damage to the lcd screen on the edge..

Green vertical line down the screen!

Hello,

Most likely the failure of the Screen.

If you purchased the product new, and have the receipt Panasonic will repair it FOC from what I understand, at least 3 years, your TV is no where near that old yet.

If you bought it, but don't have the receipt.....

Parallel vertical lines through left side of Panasonic Plasma tv

This sounds like one of the driver boards at the bottom or top of the screen has an intermittent fault. The set will have to be taken in to a service centre.
