Sounds like you have a valve slap. First let your car cool for an hour and check your oil level, and transmission fluid if you have one... if they are good, see if the noise starts right away when you fire up listen to see if it starts as soon as the fan starts. .... a lot of fans have an auto engage on the rad fan... when they wear out they will try and engage and you will get a ping ping sound as the hub try to do its job and start the fan.... I have also seen a stick get caught up under the car and just barely touch the fan so that every time it rotated....ping ping...
safety switch in the seat and in the brake. if one of those is open, engine will die when you engage the blades. Owners manual should have wiring diagram so you can bypass switches to test (if you have brake applied and are sitting in the seat and that is when it is dying).
it sounds to me that #7 has a valve train problem, wiped cam to broken rocker arm, bent pushrod, broken spring, bent valve or burnt bad! Or it has broken ring on piston. shouldnt have kept driving, very bad idea. pull valve cover to check valve train. I would start there before going deeper into motor.
It sounds like the ignition may be firing early at times. If it sounds like it is knocking and pinging then this can be ******* the engine to keep it running like this. It is better to get off the roadway and shut it down. Check for engine codes, etc.
Not familiar with tecumseh lawn boy. Lawn boys I worked on were 2 stroke, if this is the case the crank seal is sucking air after engine warms up. New seal would fix. If you can't do it you're self may not be economically worth it.
filter maybe very dirty, you may need a new spark plug, you're carberator may have just a spec of debris in it , all things that happened to us also, this man is a wizard with small engines..www.belgiumsmallengine.com
I need more info. Any trouble lights come on? Was it low on oil? Was the engine overheated? What was the coolant level? Were you towing at the time? Give me all you know and I can give you some ideas what it might be.
