I have a 42 inch norcent vion model pt-4291hd plasma tv. After about 5 minutes, the pitcure starts to flicker, goes snowy and then goes black. The tv is on and the sound works, but the picture is black. If I turn the tv off and back on after a few minutes, the picture comes on, but goes out again after a few minutes. The tv makes a crackling noise before the piture goes out.

SOURCE: 42 inch LG Plasma TV - Lost picture

Our LG 50" plasma tv screen went black after a popping noise but still had sound, after great diliberations decided to take the back off and have a peek!
We unplugged the tv and tested the fuses (there were three we could see) one had blown, the one on the left as you look at the back of the tv it also has one above it. We wrote the code/seriel number down and took the fuse to the electrical wholesalers Maplin and bought a pack of 10 fuses for £1.29 replaced the fuse in the tv and everything now fine!!!!!!
Hope this might be of use to anyone whose lost the picture after a loud popping/snacking noise but still has sound.

SOURCE: Universal Remote codes for Norcent Plasma HDTV 42

Try other manufacturers' codes. I used 10178 (a code for MGA TV) and it worked on my Norcent. The other codes for MGA are 10150 and 10030.

No picture but good sound

The backlight is normally located on the sides of the panel. But this require skilled handling and I would suggest you refer to a qualified service technician.

Remote quit working.....tv comes on and goes off by itself at various times

Sometimes Buttons on remote control "stick" underneath the faceplate. It's possible the on/off button is jammed. A lot of times when a button is jammed the other buttons fail to work.

Could also be the reason you needed to replace the batteries with a button being continously pushed will drain the battery life.

Push every button on the remote and kinda wiggle each button while pushing to possibly see if its stuck.

Hope this helps.
