Try some WD40 on the silver shafts that the carrier slides on they do get very gummy.

I have a Swintec 8016 that doesn't have a "print" key. How do I print stored files?

Hi Linda, Once upon a time, I worked on Swintec typewriters. When you speak of printing do you mean to an external printer or just allowing the thy writer to to type out of memory? What kind of printer, what type of external port. Did it ever work? With what printer? I,m not familiar with this particular typewriter , give me as much info as you can , I mean anything you can think of . The smallest detail can tip the scale. You stated there is no print key, that tells me there must be an alternative way to print. let me know what you find out. If you can take a picture of the plug ports on the back and the keyboard, in this case a picture is worth more than words! Good luck. Bret... I have a label stuck under platen of a Swintec 8016 typewriter. How do I get the platen off to get label out.

I believe the 7040 is identical to the Nakajima AE-740 If so there is a black lever at the L. end of the platen, push it down to release the platen. You can get a manual @ NADIST.COM click on current models.

You can reset all functions to original settings by doing this simple self test.

2. Hold down the margin release key.
3. While holding down margin release key, turn on typewriter.
