Question about Craftsman 17.5 hp 42 in. Deck Lawn Tractor - CA Model
I am not sure about your particular model, but mine has a fuse in the wiring harness. It is a blade type automotive fuse and if it blows, nothing happens when you turn the key. No click, no nothing. You may be able to tell if it is blown by visual inspection. The fusible link is visible thru a small window in the fuse. The best way is to pull it and check for continuity with a multimeter.

First I would check the spark plug. Remove the plug and with the high tension lead fitted earth the plug against the engine, turn the engine and see if the plug is sparking. Hold the metal part of the plug and you wont get shocked. If you have a spark then your problem is fuel, you will have check the carb. and filters. If you have no spark , it could be the wires or the high tension coil.
